He had been trying so hard for so long, thinking he was finally steps away from getting close to her, only to be pushed back to square one in an instant. He was left outside that barrier, unable to break through no matter what he did.
It was as if he were a general ceaselessly besieging a castle, enduring endless hardship and covered in wounds, only to find that once he breached the walls, he was met with one gate after another, as though he was stuck in a loop, forever unable to conquer it.
Gavin Turner thought for sure that Kevin Cliff had driven Charlotte Green away without a doubt, but, once again unexpectedly, Kevin Cliff stepped forward boldly, bent down to scoop Charlotte up in his arms, and strode away.
