BOOM!
Bian, who had been convulsing on the floor, suddenly dashed towards Ash Princess on top the tree-armed gorilla.
His body had changed to jade, granting him a super physique. Plus, neither the spirit nor the creatures expected Bian to fake getting poisoned from the Ruby Viper.
It was the same as the spider. No one could have expected him to be immune to poisons and toxins.
Still, his foes weren't ordinary either. The Red-furred Cheetah was the first to react, but the tree-armed ape moved at a speed not matching its size.
BANG!
A shockwave rippled through the entire tunnels, and Bian was sent flying away by a vicious backhand.
A smirk couldn't help but form on his face.
Dongxuan movement, make the battlefield your chess board, always be several steps ahead.
Just now, the ape had been impulsive and smacked him towards the excavation area—just as he had intended.
Clang!
His back slammed into the thick metal door, leaving a deep indent.
'If I didn't activate the Body Pillar, the force would have killed me through the Crystal Tunic.'
Bian wasn't only trying to keep himself alive, he also had to protect Bao'er.
His left arm pulled on the lever as he opened the door and pulled himself out from the door at the same time.
His enemies were surprised, shocked by the fact that he survived the venom of the Ruby Viper—a neurotoxin known to kill creatures by the dozen. Even Sacred-blood creatures were wary of it.
Bian took advantage of their stupor, slipping into the little gap that had opened from the door.
"Shit!"
This time the Red-furred Cheetah wasn't playing around anymore. Its claws missed his face by a literal hairbreadth, and his cracked armor was broken in a single hit.
'Stupid creatures!'
Bian cursed them. The Cheetah did the same thing the ape did.
When Bian was sent flying, the Red-furred Cheetah chased after him, ready to deliver the final blow once he hit the wall.
But to its surprise, Bian didn't crash into solid stone, but seemed to have fallen into water.
The Red-furred Cheetah showed visible confusion as Bian disappeared from view. Then its expression distorted to rage as it dug through the ground going after Bian.
Bian couldn't be bothered to be sneaky while using Terraslip. His movement through the ground was fast and violent, sending tremors into the distant soil.
Because of those tremors, the Red-furred Cheetah found him easily.
Snap!
The toe of his left foot was broken off by the jaw of the Cheetah. It spat out the jade-like piece and opened its maw, ready to take another bite out of him.
"Daddy, watch out!" Bao'er shouted when she saw Bian had no chance of avoiding the Cheetah, especially since he was surrounded by rocks on all sides.
The Cheetah was a Sacred-blood creature, so although it didn't have a tunneling ability, its claws could dig through the soil like mud—and more importantly, it was faster than Bian.
Bian couldn't avoid its attack even if he wanted to.
Yet before the Red-furred Cheetah could take his entire leg off, the ground above it collapsed, and a humanoid dirt-covered creature with four interconnected jaws descended like a rabid beast.
Its four interconnected jaws landed on the armor covering the Cheetah's back, producing a loud screeching sound like a nail on a blackboard.
Roar!
The Red-furred Cheetah was incensed. It let out a roar, then flipped and swiped the creature away.
Before the creature could orient itself, the Red-furred Cheetah had gone for its jugular, ripping its head off from the throat.
Then it turned to face Bian, who was... nowhere to be seen.
Instead, another humanoid creature fell from the open hole the disconfigured zombie had created.
The Cheetah disposed of it with one slap, only to be shocked when three more fell in.
It killed them without much issue, but eight had already fallen in by then.
Just like the interconnected-jaw zombie, there was another mutant creature among this batch.
It had black fur surrounding its rotting body, long ears, a gnarly snout, and deep black eyes, which were a stark contrast to the usual white eyes of the zombies.
"Screeee!!!!!!"
A loud-pitched scream rang out from the bat zombie, disorienting the Red-furred Cheetah for a moment.
Then it steeled itself and bit through the skull of the bat zombie. The attacks of the other zombies landed on its armor, not even leaving a scratch.
Still, the sheer magnitude of creatures had now grown beyond what it could handle. For every zombie it killed, five more took their place.
The Red-furred Cheetah retreated through the tunnels, heading back to the underground tunnels.
A horde of zombies ran after it, only increasing as more diggers created openings from the surface to the tunnel it created.
Bian quietly observed everything happening in the Emperical Aura.
The zombie creatures didn't provide any beast soul when they died, making them useless to him.
He quietly and cautiously created distance between himself and the area around the underground tunnels.
Using Terraslip properly and backed by the Emperical Aura, he moved further and further away from the disaster zone.
"The spirit is actually quite cruel. It forced the Red-furred Cheetah to halt the approaching zombies."
Bian commented as he moved closer and closer to the outskirts of the city. He had been moving for almost a dozen minutes now. The Red-furred Cheetah would soon be killed once it encountered a powerful zombie.
The spirit rallied the other creatures and spirits, getting them ready to depart from the shelter.
Since the underground tunnels and actual exit were in opposite directions, she was waiting for the zombies on her side to go over to the other side.
They would clearly flood the shelter before she could escape. She would need a large distraction to escape from the exit.
"A distraction like every creature in the shelter." Bian shuddered at the thought that he had been beside such a sociopath for a long time.
Suddenly, the snake resting on Ash Princess sprang up. Its head turned to face his direction.
Bian let out a curse and crept away. He couldn't hear the conversation between the woman and the snake, but he knew it couldn't be anything good.
She knew he was alive since the indigo light persisted, but they could never track him down using the Emperical Aura.
'It's the poison in my system,' Bian realized as the snake kept on tracking his movements.
The poison bead which burst had left his system, but the poison in the pill he swallowed was still in him.
If he hadn't eaten what the woman and the snake had given him, he wouldn't be in this dilemma.
Still, it was too late for regrets. Bian could only prepare as he saw the snake summon a long worm.
Upon closer inspection, this worm-like geno core was actually a very small and thin red snake. It wiggled in the air and went through the ground effortlessly.
At the same time, a true abomination reached the Red-furred Cheetah—a ten-meter-tall humanoid body, covered in arms.
Arms literally everywhere, each ending with six pointed fingers. Just one blow cracked the armor of the Red-furred Cheetah and sent it flying while spitting blood.
Bian couldn't appreciate the harrowing abomination though; the geno core of the Ruby Viper was about to reach him at any moment.
He didn't fancy his chances against a Gemstone geno core, especially underground.
Luckily, for the past twenty minutes, he had been moving and was now halfway to the walls of the city.
Since he didn't move in the direction of the city gates, the area above his head was clear and safe.
The majority of the zombies outside the city flooded in through the city gates and moved to the giant holes, or made their own entrances to reach the tunnels.
Most zombified creatures in the shelter had already went to the tunnels.
The dented door had been shut behind the Cheetah, but once it was dead, the door would soon follow.
Six more Sacred-blood creatures would soon reach the tunnels. Even Ash Princess would find it hard-pressed to survive.
The same could be said for Bian, though.
As he left the ground, a wriggling red snake chased after his position and would soon reach him.
If the Cheetah could bite off pieces of his body, then the Ribbon Snake could do the same—and even worse.
If it drilled into his skin, then that would be game over for Bian.
