Early five in the morning, James Black was jolted awake by a phone call. It took him just over a minute to answer the call before he furrowed his eyebrows and got out of bed.
Jane Sampson was sleeping in his arms, so the commotion couldn't have gone unnoticed by her.
"What's wrong?" James got out of bed, and Jane followed, sitting up groggily, rubbing her eyes as she asked.
"I have an urgent matter and need to leave early today. You let your new assistant accompany you around King Town," James said as he dressed, then tenderly kissed Jane on the forehead.
"Back to Capital Province?" Jane asked.
"No, somewhere else," James replied.
"On a mission?" Not returning to Capital Province and leaving urgently for elsewhere meant he must be off on a mission.
"Mm," James nodded.
