I've cut down many people,
cut down many monsters,
but,
I've never tried to cut "myself."
Before Oda Mai's eyes
was a pitch-black space.
Underneath her feet, a tranquil black water lake lay motionless.
Standing on the surface of the lake, Oda Mai could neither sink beneath it nor stir up much of a ripple. Slowly walking across, rings of black ripples emanated from behind her.
In the distance, about a hundred meters away, a girl in a white dress with black hair stood quietly on the surface of the black water lake, her presence a lone speck of pure white against the darkness. To any observer, the girl would seem like a white lotus untouched and unstained by the surrounding mire.
The irony was, Oda Mai knew full well that this "white lotus" represented the most evil presence in the entire trial, the one that must be cut down at all costs.
Cut her down, and it all should end.
I could go back.
"Cough, cough, cough."
Oda Mai spat out a mouthful of blood.
