I pushed against the barrier, regaining my footing and channeling my mana. The crimson aura around me flared, and I felt the heat of my power surging back to life.
"Hmph, I'm not done yet!" I shouted defiantly, breaking away from the wall and launching myself at Saffron once more.
He blocked my fist with his purple aura around.
My hands widened as a hand made out of aura formed, grabbing me just like the shadows had done so earlier.
"What the—?" I gasped, struggling against the spectral hand. It felt like a vice around my body, constricting my movements and leaving me vulnerable.
Saffron lowered his blade and slid one hand into his pants pocket. He gave me a smug look, as if asking how I planned to get out of this.
I gritted my teeth, trying to break free, but the aura hand only tightened its hold. Panic began to creep in, but I pushed it back. Like Mariah said at the cafeteria, I couldn't let Saffron get into my head.
