Saffron PoV
I returned to my mom's house and placed my daughter in the crib.
"There, there, baby," Rose said, rubbing her tummy.
Anis let out a weak goo.
"Maybe I should make something for her to eat. It might help with the fatigue after using her mana."
My tired wife sat down on the bed. "Let me breastfeed her."
I nodded, picking Anis back and handing her over to Rose.
Anis's whimper softened as Rose settled her against her chest, the baby's tiny hands pawing weakly at the fabric of her dress. I turned sharply toward the window, my cheeks warming despite myself. The midday sun glared off the dusty glass, and I busied myself by picking up one of my old ship models.
"You don't have to—" Rose began, her voice fatigued, yet soft.
"I know," I cut in, too quickly.
She.giggled softly as Anis nursed. "You're very hungry today, little one. Just be careful with your teeth."
Anis gooed as if giving an affirmative.
