I opened my eyes and gasped as soon as I realized Anis wasn't beside me. My heart raced with a sudden wave of panic. I pushed myself up into a sitting position, my gaze darting around the small room.
Then I spotted Saffron, sitting in a chair by the window. He cradled our baby girl in his arms, her tiny face nestled against his muscular chest. His expression was stoic, but there was an undeniable tenderness in the way he held her, a quiet strength that made my heart swell with warmth.
"Hey," I said softly, my voice still thick with sleep.
Saffron looked up, his gaze steady as he met my eyes. "Good morning, Rosemary. She just woke up, and I thought I'd rock her in my arms for a bit."
I took a moment to drink in the scene—the love and care radiating from Saffron as he held our daughter. It was a beautiful sight, and I felt a rush of relief wash over me.
"Can I hold her?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper, not wanting to disturb the peaceful moment.
