Chapter 156 - The assault against the headmaster! (3)

Gervem stomped. He stomped again, and again, and again. The blood splattered like droplets of water sending stray water all around. Splash.

Splash.

"I'm getting a little too carried away, huh?" Gervem smiled lightly, speaking to himself. He slowly lifted his foot off Julian's face, giving it one more press, before completely lifting it.

Julian's face was unrecognizable. His face was split in areas where it shouldn't have split, where it didn't make sense for it to split there. The dark red blood made any features that could've been noticed beforehand a thing of the past.

The only thing you could see:

His ruby green eyes, and his pure white hair.

"Did I overdo it? The headmaster did say for me to stop him... he said I could do whatever I wanted."

Gervem sighed, stretching.

"Oh well. I can't be bothered."

!

Gervem turned around as quickly as he could, feeling a shift in the air. Something felt different. His hair stood on end.

The battered corpse of Julian rose. And he, no, it was standing there, gazing, peering through Gervem's soul, judging every good and bad thing he had done throughout his whole life.

That's what it had appeared as to Gervem.

"What... the..."

Tap.

Julian raised a foot up.

Gervem felt at his throat. He could have sworn it was chopped off.

He could feel his heartbeat more than ever. But he swallowed that fear-

Swsh!

Julian zipped. He moved faster than Beiric's light beam.

Gervem closed his eyes tightly, raising his guard.

"This [Envy]... it's making me so much faster."

He heard Julian mutter this sentence. The voice was very close to him. He opened his eyes slowly.

Bap!

Julian's axe kick would have nearly split Gervem in half. Gervem quickly blocked with his forearm, pushing his foot off.

Julian's foot descended, as Gervem moved out of the way.

He sidestepped to the left.

Contracting his arm, preparing an elbow.

"An attack that slow couldn't possibly reach me."

Julian ducked, striking Gervem center in the chest.

"Gya!"

Gervem yelled out.

Regaining his composure as quickly as possible, his eyes darted back toward Julian.

But he was no longer in front of him.

The smartest thing to do was turn around.

Psh!

Julian punched him once, across the cheek.

His head swayed to the side, the power forcing him to do a 180.

The second strike landed in Gervem's palm.

"I'm not gonna let you..."

Gervem pulled back his body, putting all his energy into this next strike.

"Be serious."

He shot forward. The punch was caught with relative ease.

"How!?" Gervem yelled out.

The weak-willed, frail Julian that Gervem had known was no longer.

Julian dropped his hands, charged toward Gervem, grabbed him by the waist, and sent him to the ground.

"Oof!"

"You're strong. But you're a basic fighter. It's a shame."

He interlaced his fingers.

"You'll have to die."

. . .

. .

.

Lionel stopped dead in his tracks, as Leo continued running after the headmaster.

At this point, they were far out of the school, deep into the forest near the school.

In front of Lionel stood a pale, emotionless Beiric. The color in him had basically disappeared. After what Julian had done to him, it was only expected.

"I'm going to need you to move out of the way."

Lionel held his sword out, the blade still contained by the scabbard. A threat.

"..."

[Cast: Light step]

Beiric moved faster than he had ever moved.

Faster than anything.

Faster than light.

He beamed forward, toward Lionel. To Lionel though, a bright light flashed and then Beiric was in front of him.

CLANG!

Despite this overwhelming speed, Lionel unsheathed his sword, blocking Beiric's incoming deal daggers.

"You're fast."

"..."

They dashed back, away from each other.

[Cast: Ignition]

An erratic surge of lightning coursed through Lionel's sword. He held it out, bravely.

Beiric stared blankly, flashing his daggers.
