CHAPTER 98: FEAR OF THE KNOWN II
James drew Diana closer, holding her waist tightly against his body in an embrace. Diana crossed her arms over his neck and wept on his shoulder.
James bit her neck gently, planting soft feather light kisses along it. He sucked on her earlobes and kissed her cheeks, and soon Diana's cries turned to light moans. She looked at James with glazed eyes.
"It's just medicine, baby," James said. "You keep getting scared and throwing up because you think too much about it. Try to think of it as taking sweets. Let your mind get used to that idea, and it will all work out. You know we can't continue like this. If you really care about our baby, you'll do this for her."
Diana sniffed and said in a small voice, "Her?"
James smiled for the first time since coming in. "As far as I'm concerned, I will refer to our baby as her."
Diana smiled and kissed his neck. She looked back up at him, biting her lips in the process and thinking 'how she was possibly just going to think she was taking sweets. The two things were incomparable'. She felt like crying again when she heard his words next.
"Don't bite your lips like that in front of me again" James said as he bent down and gave her a long breath taking kiss.
He looked back up at her, smiling at her flushed face. "Alright, let's do this," James said. He released her, got water, and brought the medicine closer. "Now, imagine swallowing sweets. Done?"
"Done," Diana said. Shaking her head mentally. 'Sweets it was'
"Now open your mouth and throw your head back, after sipping water of course," James added.
Diana did as she was told. James quickly tossed the medicine into her mouth, and Diana swallowed without choking. He gave her more water to wash it down. Once Diana was done, her eyes darted around as she hit her chest.
"What is it?" James looked alarmed.
"I need food or drink to wash it down completely."
"Nicodemus!" James shouted towards the dining. Nicodemus came in. "Serve food for the madam."
He led her to the table. Suzanne looked at them as they came out. "Well, how was it?"
Diana couldn't respond; she rushed to the table and dug into the food Nicodemus served her. James answered Suzanne instead. "Everyone is fine, Ma. She took the medicine."
"Well, if medicine is going to be an issue, you had better find another way for her. I don't want her to suffer too much," Suzanne said, watching Diana eat ravenously.
James could only nod as they both watched her.
