Chapter 154 - Story 9 The Longest Short Bus. Chapter 45

The Hive City Governer's void shielding however valuable and blocking even bolter fire didn't matter worth a shit when I engulfed it in the Sol Flames that mirrored the Emperor's glorious holy flames.

And my lips curled as when the fat bastard was burning to death, we all saw as dark wisps of screaming chaos energy left his form from where it was buried deep within his soul.

But I didn't get a chance to speak for a good bit as my group had to deal with the highly dangerous Servitors who were armed with high-grade Las-weapons and even a couple of plasma weapons.

And one of the enhanced Super-Soldier Ogryns got blasted into a wall when he blocked a plasma shot from one of the servitors before they could all be culled.

I leaned down to where the melted corpse of the governor was, and I ripped off the large signet ring from his finger, and I hummed as my Crysis armor's micro connectors interfaced with the ring and thus the Spire's defensive system.

'Well, well... The tech used to protect the Spire is basically from the Dark Age of Technolog,y even if heavily degraded.' I mused as a loud hum rang as I just ham-fistedly shut down all the power systems within the Spire.

Which could be a problem in the future if it were left off. As the governor wasn't lying when he called his air 'purified' the entire fortress of a living area was completely self-contained with the air coming into the Spire being literally fucking imported from a Pleasure World in another system.

The bastard governor disdained even breathing the same air as the wretches he ruled over, basically.

"I am calling the Inquisitor on another Vox call," I spoke up as my party secured the entrances into the room, knowing the palace guards were going to be rushing towards this area.

After a few moments, Inquisitor Grendyl's rugged raspy voice filled my comms system as he said coldly. "The deed is done and the defenses are down?"

To which I said calmly. "Yes, we are holding the throne room currently. All automatic defense systems have been brought down, and currently, we can just lock up the Spire to let everyone suffocate if we wanted to."

There was a pause before Grendyl spoke with some approval in his voice. "I see... That can be a tool to use to soften up the forces within and deal with much of the culling needed. Will your party be extracting now?"

"Correct Inquisitor... Now I have a proposal for you, however." I spoke with there being a harsh silence on the other end of the line.

But I was undeterred as I had found some... Very interesting things by hijacking the connection through the signet ring to the palace's data stores that kept logs of all Vox messages, calls, and even recordings of pykser astropaths being used to send messages to different systems.

"I want one of the Cargo Ships thats dry-docked here in the Hive City. And from you, I want a Warrant of Trade to make me a proper Rogue Trader of the Imperium of Man."

There was a pregnant pause before Inquisitor Grendyl's voice came out coldly. "You ask for much Jake Bariss... I am not a Lord of Terra, why would I even have such a treasure to trade with you?"

To which I said calmly. "I broke into the Governer's secret data caches and with your mechanicus agents, they would just destroy the data stores seeing the heretical drawings upon them. I have info of three dozen more World Governers, and even Sector Lords that are cavorting with dark forces if not outright traitors altogether."

The Inquisitor after a moment replied calmly. "I could just demand that information and you would have to give it to me freely."

And with the same calm tone, I said. "I could also just vat grow an astropath and send a message to another Inquisitor the information so they can take all the credit."

I could feel the Sisters of Battle looking at me with a bit of tension as they clearly didn't like the political game I was playing with Grendyl but after a moment the Inquisitor spoke again with his voice tingued with actual amusement.

"Very well. I have an unsigned Warrant of Trade that can be bound to your bloodline. You send that information to me, along with three dozen suits of that power armor you have your Ogryns wearing. And the Warrant of Trade is yours along with any civilian ship that is docked within the Hive City."

"Good doing business with you Inquisitor, for your aid I will throw in some extra weapons as well for your men to pick up when they collect the power armor." I said respectfully before I cut off the call as my systems bleeped out as I got a message on where the Inquisitor's men would be meeting us for the delivery in three days.
