Cherreads

Chapter 151 - Story 9 The Longest Short Bus. Chapter 42

When the Inquisitor, who was responsible for deciding whether the planet you were on gets a super virus bomb, or a cyclonic torpedo that could blow up the core of the planet. And thus end your life when he decides the planet can't be saved, sends a priority message...

You can be damned sure I got right to reading that priority message like my very life hung in the balance.

[Commissar Jake Bariss, there are three heretical locations that need to be destroyed and the unclean purged. I am well aware that you are treating your troops as elite shock troops so I am not ordering you to the general front lines and simply advising you of targets of interest.]

[Lesser Promethium Refinery- A lesser refinery for the obvious spaceship fuel has been corrupted and tainted by heretical forces. The influence of the heretics must be removed, with hopefully the least amount of damage done.]

[Lasgun Manufactorum- A major Lasgun Manufactorum that used to make the guns the traitor Mobiem Guardsmen used in their battles has been taken by Heretical forces and gangers. Purge all of the unclean with damage being done to the Manufactorum, expected due to how well armed the opposition will be.]

[The Hive Cities Governor has ordered a VIP to be retrieved from a hidden hab block in the Lowerhive. The hab block actually has a secret tunnel leading to the Middle Hive which leads to a brothel the Hive City Governor favored due to the VIP sending the best-looking girls to his palace. The VIP merely needs to be escorted to one of the secure checkpoints leading to the Middle Hive.]

Beyond the three missions he gave me, he also had a more... Personalized notice. Your act of biological experimentation has been noted. But seeing as it isn't creating mutants or a violation of the sanctity of the Emperor's Astartes, you will not be censured by my hand. Do note, however, that with the Golden One's arrival, the Dark Angels have answered the call to reinforce this world hearing of a detachment of Plague Marines having been sighted on the planet.]

I sagged slightly reading the fucking words [Plague Marines] But as though understanding my thoughts there was another paragraph from the Inquisitor.

[With the Emperor himself sending members of the 10,000 upon the world and to act as your shield, all necessary measures will be taken to take the Hive World back. However, I do suggest in the meantime, as the Astartes arrive from another system... You go over the information I will be sending over, the other major Hive Cities' issues, are spilling over to the point of being untenable.]

I tilted my head to the side as I slightly relaxed into my chair, as I had my tablet decrypt the information packet he sent me, and I meanwhile was thinking. 'Marvel-based Super Soldiers versus actual Chaos Astartes. More particularly the Death Guard.'

'I honestly don't like my Super Soldier's chances against them honestly. Except for the Colt's only the Spartan Laser's have any real chance in actually scoring any kills on the Death Guard Astartes within a dozen shots.' I thought with a frown.

The Deathguard... Nurgles' personal Astartes legion, although it was clear that it was only a minor warband. It was still fucking Nurgle's legion, they specialized in utterly ruining worlds for humanity better than Slaanesh could eat space elf souls.

"Do I seriously need to upgrade my super soldiers already... And I guess make them better weapons?" I mused to myself as I was running into a bit of an issue.

Obviously, technology itself ran into a bit of a speed bump once you moved past things like plasma weapons of Fallout and such. And that was a lot of the times they had hyper-specialized materials that just didn't naturally form in most universes.

That and if I got too advanced in technology, then that ran into the whole 'Ai' is the fucking devil in this universe as well.

I had little doubt that, should I make my own Cortana or whatever, unless I completely hid her. The moment it got found out, the Sisters of Battle and the Custodian would be a lot colder with me even if I was clearly blessed by the Emperor.

I took a deep breath as I pivoted my thoughts, virtual intelligence, however... Could be excused. For example, adding tracking gyrostocks to people's guns so the guns would lock onto targets and at the direction of the shooter, shoot the target until the shooter let go of the trigger.

And their Fallout Power Armor with energy shields might need an upgrade to a more advanced form of power armor...

Then it hit me. I already had super soldiers running around, I already gave the Spartan Lances. I just needed to add some safeguards, and I could outfit them all at this point with the resources I had saved up in Gen 4 Mjolnir power armor from Halo.

Sure, they didn't have the raw power of a gen 2 Spartan from Halo, but that's what the safeguards were for, and it's not like they weren't augmented.

Not to mention, now with new sets of armor, I could properly inlay wards, sacraments, and other things into the armor as they are printed to keep the user safe from demonic possession and the like.

Leading to the next part. The weapons.

'Do I trust nuns with guns to wield a lightsaber that has its Kyber crystal blessed in holy prayers? And then have them armed with Star Wars Disintegrator guns in Disruptor Rifles?'

At the thought of a line of fucking Plague Marines ignoring everything I shot at them... Because I kinda doubt the Colts' small bullets could pierce their thick armor.

I nodded and then got to work mentally drawing up plans, material salvage runs to be made, and of course... Sending off a message to the Inquisitor that I needed more guardsmen to take and hold such positions.

While also I began making sure to inlay energy-absorbing materials that were a mix of Saturnite and Cortosis into the armor of the soldiers and sister's of battle new armor... So they didn't kill themselves or 'just' lop off a limb when they were swinging around a light saber.
