What a ride, huh?
One Last Knight. A series of short stories. Volume One: Embers.
Man…I started this journey back in 2022…
I was in a very lonely and dark place, you know?
I had just left my entire life behind.
Quite literally.
My relationship…
My job…
My place of residence…
A friendship or two…
It was quite the year for me.
I had to get away from it all, and the best way for me to do so was to dive into these little stories of mine, and into a world where I could get away from all of those hardships, if not just for a while.
After some time, I began to heal, and with that healing came the want and need to share this world of mine.
I've always found peace and comfort in the ability to tell stories and create new and awe-inspiring things and characters and events.
Places that we can wonder while in our beds at night, or while on a train to work. or while on the city bus, or lunch break, or sitting in a random park.
Places where we can feel safe and detached from the heavier parts of life, if not just for a while.
The characters in this story are mostly based (very loosely, mind you) on many people I have met and crossed paths with over the nearly 40 years of my life.
People who have left a mark on my heart and soul in way way or another.
I have met quite a few people lol.
Some great, kind, open, loving people.
Some low, cruel, mean, deceptive people.
All equally human, you know?
Sometimes when I sit and talk to my friends about random things like manga, comics, anime, and random shows/movies, this book will come up, and it always astonishes me that I have my own little world with its own lore and canon.
It is a real thing.
Something deep and profound, and easy enough to dive into and just get lost.
Like I used to do back in 2022 when I was in that dark and lonely place.
But alas, it is a real thing.
A thing that I want to be a harbor and haven to any and all who may need it.
That is my gift to the world: Comfort and safety.
If only for just a while.
