Kaito and Hitori sat cross-legged on the floor, facing each other at the small, round table in the dimly lit room. Kaito had a slight smile on his face, his "excitement" barely contained, while Hitori looked a bit more nervous than anything else.
"Alright," Hitori began. "Let's start. Is there anything specific you want me to teach you?"
Kaito's face lit up as he nodded. "Yes! I want to learn the Mystical Palm Technique."
Hitori blinked, his brow furrowing in disbelief. "The Mystical Palm Technique?" he repeated. "Don't you think that's a little... ambitious? That technique requires a really high level of chakra control. Even I struggled to get the hang of it when I was learning."
Kaito let out a small sigh. "Yeah, I know it's difficult," he admitted. "But can we at least try? I really want to learn."
Hitori hesitated, studying Kaito's expression. It was clear the younger boy wasn't going to back down easily. With a resigned sigh, Hitori finally nodded. "Fine," he said. "But don't get mad if it doesn't work out right away. This isn't something you can master overnight."
Kaito's grin widened. "Thank you! I promise I'll do my best."
Hitori leaned back slightly, crossing his arms. "Alright then, let's start with the basics. Before you can even think about using the Mystical Palm Technique, you need to have precise chakra control. Show me how you're managing your chakra right now."
Kaito concentrated, directing his chakra into his palms. It wasn't flawless, but it was solid. A moment later, he channeled the energy to the tips of his fingers, and thin, translucent chakra threads sprang to life. They floated gently in the air, shimmering faintly, before retracting back into his palms as he cut off the chakra flow.
Hitori's eyes widened in disbelief. "Are you sure you're in the Academy?" he asked, his voice filled with genuine shock. He couldn't hide his amazement. Chakra threads were a technique far beyond what most or even any Academy students could manage. Sure, Kaito's execution wasn't perfect—not even close—but the fact that he could produce them at all was nothing short of impressive.
Kaito gave a sheepish grin as he scratched the back of his head. "Yeah... I just thought of it one day and decided to try it."
Hitori blinked, slightly taken aback. ' This kid... might actually be a genius, a prodigy even. ' he thought to himself, trying not to let his surprise show.
Clearing his throat with a weak cough, Hitori said, "Hmm, if that's the case, you might actually be able to pull off the Mystical Palm Technique."
Kaito's eyes lit up as he stared at his palms, excitement flickering across his face. "Really? You think I can do it?" he asked eagerly.
Hitori gave a small, reassuring smile. "Yeah, I think so," he replied. "Now that we know your chakra control is pretty good, I'll show you how the technique works and explain what it does. Then, you'll give it a try."
Kaito nodded quickly, his gaze locking onto Hitori with a focus that was almost unnerving.
Hitori stood up from the floor and made his way to the kitchen. He grabbed a small knife from a drawer, the blade glinting faintly in the light. Returning to the table, he held the knife steady in his hand. Without hesitation, he made a shallow cut across his left palm, a thin line of red welling up instantly.
Hitori looked at Kaito to see his reaction, but he had none as his eyes seemed to dissect every move, absorbing every detail. Hitori hesitated for a moment, surprised that someone so young could have such an intense, analytical stare, but he pushed the thought aside and continued.
"Mastering Mystical Jutsu might seem tough at first, but once you understand the basics, it gets much easier," he explained. "You need to focus your chakra into your palms and visualize the wound closing. Picture it in your mind—your chakra doing the work of healing—and then trust your chakra to handle the rest."
To demonstrate, he opened his right palm and concentrated, guiding his chakra to flow steadily into his hands. A thick, glowing green aura of chakra formed around his palms. Pressing them together over the wound, he held them there for a moment. When he finally pulled his hands away, the wound was gone, completely healed.
"See?" he said, showing his palms. Kaito nodded, paying close attention. "When you're doing it, you need to picture every fiber and every tissue healing and closing up. That's why studying human anatomy is so important—it helps you heal faster and get better results."
Kaito gave a knowing nod. "Alright, can I try now?" he asked. Hitori nodded and handed him the knife.
"Be careful," Hitori warned. "If you send too much chakra into the body, it can disrupt circulation and put you into a comatose state. So when you try, use as little chakra as possible. Don't overdo it."
Kaito grabbed the knife and made a small incision across his palm. The sting was sharp, but he clenched his jaw and powered through it. Taking a deep breath, he closed his eyes and began focusing his chakra into his palms.
' Just imagine...' he thought, visualizing his chakra as if it were a pencil. 'Whatever you choose to draw or write, the pencil will do the rest.' Holding onto that image, Kaito concentrated on every fiber and cell in his palm. Slowly, he directed his chakra toward the wound, willing it to knit itself back together and heal.
Kaito waited for a moment before stopping the chakra flow to his palms and glanced at the wound. It hadn't closed at all. Blood continued to drip from it, pooling slightly on the floor.
He bit his bottom lip in frustration. "Damn it..." he muttered under his breath, his voice barely audible.
Hitori gave a small, reassuring smile. "It's alright. Don't worry about it. Just try again, but this time, put a little more chakra into it. I'm sure you'll get a better result that way."
Kaito gave another firm nod and tried again. He was a bit exhausted from the chakra drain, but he powered through. Closing his eyes, he focused and channeled the chakra into his palm once more.
While the "tap" visualization had worked to some extent, but it wasn't stable. The slightest movement and a burst of chakra came flooding through. He thought for a moment, realizing he needed a new way to picture it.
Something with more precision and control. What if chakra was like a pencil? A pencil, with a blank canvas. A pencil had more flexibility. Whatever you wanted to create, the pencil could sketch it out, line by line, with you guiding its path.
To him, the idea made sense. A pencil was simple, but it could be used to create something as detailed as a blueprint or as messy as a random doodle—it all depended on what you wanted to draw.
Kaito began picturing his chakra like that pencil. He imagined himself sketching a design in his head, outlining exactly what he wanted to happen. The chakra would follow his "sketch" like an artist filling in the shapes.
Just like you can use a pencil to sketch fine details or bold strokes, chakra can be shaped and controlled depending on how well you handle it. The more clearly you picture and understand this "pencil," the better you'll be at controlling your chakra.
When one first starts working with chakra, it might feel like using a dull pencil. The lines you draw could be uneven or faint, which reflects unpolished chakra control. With time and practice, though, it's like sharpening that pencil.
A sharp pencil creates cleaner, more precise lines, just like refined chakra control allows for smoother energy flow. Sharpening this pencil is like training your focus, improving your mental image of what you want to achieve, and strengthening the connection between your body and chakra.
For example, take water-walking or tree-climbing: it's like using the "pencil" to create perfect strokes. If you press too hard with the pencil (use too much chakra), you'll rip the paper (disrupt your energy balance). Use too little, and the lines fade (you slip or lose control). Visualizing the pencil helps you adjust your chakra flow naturally, like fine-tuning your grip on a tool.
Now this applies to medical ninjustu as well. Here, the pencil analogy changes to reflect how you "draw" the healing process. You need a steady hand to rebuild cells or guide energy to close a wound. Press too hard with your chakra, and you could waste energy or strain yourself unnecessarily.
But with practice, you learn to shade lightly where delicate work, like nerve repair, is needed and press harder for tougher places, such as mending broken bones or muscle tissue.
Imagine the pencil like sketching a design in your mind. It's like performing a jutsu, visualizing the chakra as a pencil sketching the technique's structure. The clearer the mental image, the easier it is to channel your energy and make it a reality. Though the bigger or complex the sketch is, the more chakra it drains.
He steadied his breathing once more, focusing as hard as he could this time. Closing his eyes, In his mind, he pictured chakra as a pencil—one that could erase the damage and redraw the skin. The lines would reconnect, the gaps would fill, and the wound would close.
Slowly, he poured more and more chakra into his palm, letting it flow toward the wound. He was close; he could feel the sting in his palm slowly easing, the pain dulling with every second.
"Alright, stop!" Hitori's voice shattered his concentration. Startled, his eyes snapped open.
His gaze dropped to his palm, where the wound was there. It wasn't fully healed—but it looked... different. The bleeding had nearly stopped, reduced to just a faint trickle, and dried skin cells had started to form around the edges. It wasn't perfect, but it was something. He'd made progress, however small.
Kaito managed a weak grin before his body gave out. He turned toward Hitori, whose face was frozen in shock. "I did i-" Kaito tried to say, but before he could finish, his eyes rolled back, and he collapsed face-first onto the table, completely unconscious.
"Kaito!" Hitori yelled, rushing to his side. Panic coursed through him as he quickly checked Kaito's pulse. It was there—steady but faint. At least he was alive. ' Is he in a coma? ' he thought frantically. He shook the thought off, there wasn't any time to waste. "I need to get him to the hospital," he muttered under his breath as he carefully hoisted Kaito onto his back.
"Aaahh..." Kaito let out a low groan. Hitori's shoulders immediately relaxed as he released a heavy sigh of relief. "He's just out of chakra..."
Carefully, Hitori carried him to the bed, gently laying him down. For a moment, he stood by the bedside, his gaze falling on the boy's hands. His palms were scarred with fresh wounds. Despite himself, Hitori found a small smile tugging at his lips.
' This boy... he might have the craziest potential I've ever seen, ' he thought, almost unable to believe what he was seeing. ' On his first day, he managed to get this far? Sure, the wound isn't completely healed, but the fact he stopped the bleeding on his own... that's not just impressive. It's insane. '
Hitori shook his head in quiet disbelief, still trying to process what he had just witnessed. Kaito's sheer aptitude for medical ninjutsu was unlike anything he had seen before. For the first time in a long while, Hitori felt a spark of genuine curiosity—and perhaps a bit of hope—about what this boy might achieve.
Hitori's voice was soft as he spoke, almost as if he wasn't sure Kaito could hear him. "I don't think I told you before... but thank you for saving my life. For that, I'll forever be in your debt." He bowed deeply, his expression full of gratitude, before straightening back up slowly.
His gaze then fell to Kaito's hand, where the wound was. Hesitantly, he reached for it, his fingers gentle as they wrapped around Kaito's palm. Concentrating, Hitori began channeling chakra into his own hand, carefully guiding it to hover just above the wound. Gradually, the wound began to close, the torn skin knitting back together until it appeared as though the wound was never there.
With a sigh, Hitori grabbed the thin covers and carefully tucked them over Kaito, making sure he was comfortable. He hesitated for a moment, his expression softening before he gave a small, almost imperceptible smile and quietly slipped out of the room.
As the door clicked shut behind him, Kaito's left eye fluttered open. He stared at the door for a moment, ' I didn't think I'd get knocked out from that... I guess I still need to figure out my limits, '
Raising his hand, he held it in front of him and examined the smooth skin of his palm, now fully healed. The faintest grin tugged at his lips. The progress he'd made—it was coming along faster than he ever expected. For the first time in a long time, he felt a flicker of pride, like maybe he was actually getting somewhere
Good...Very Good.
He was exhausted after using so much chakra, so he decided to call it a night and fell asleep.
