Chapter 5 - A sealed memory?

Both Lucas and the apocalypse beast was pushed back in opposite direction, the force of the terrifying shockwave blew them away in different directions.

Lucas's purpled and crimson-coloured feathered wings spread outwards fiercely, he was able to kill the kinetic energy of his body and stabilize himself.

His crimson eyes gaze deeply at the figure of the apocalypse beast that was sent flying in the distant.

Only after it had reached a distant of one hundred meters had it been able to stabilize itself. Its green eyes shone with dense killing intent as it gazes at Lucas.

During their exchange of attacks, Lucas had successfully dealt several blows onto the beast's body, thanks to the activation of his, "Berserker" skill, all his total stats point had received a huge increase.

Furthermore, with the activation of his, "Chaotic wings of annihilation" His agility stats were doubled.

In addition to his increased speed using the unique skill, "Chaotic wings of annihilation" He also use the active skill, "Gravity manipulation" Pushing his speed to even greater levels.

As such, he had dealt several bloody wounds onto the apocalypse beast during their exchange of blows just now, but—

'It's such a shame its exoskeleton is so hard. Even my blade can't completely cut through it in one swoop.' Lucas narrowed his crimson eyes, aside from the damage he had delt using void divider, he had yet to deal another significant blow.

'Should I activate reality destroyers' unique ability now?' Lucas pondered as he furrowed his brow gravely.

It would be ideal if he could launch another void divider in a wide area, but an attack of such magnitude would require a stupendous amount of mana, he didn't want to use such an attack a second time unless absolutely necessary.

The beast of the apocalypse had also become more cautious, it was doubtful whether such an attack would work a second time. Reality destroyer crackled in his hand, its blade seeming to absorb the light of the sun, moon and stars.

Reality destroyer was currently within a sealed state. In other words, it was currently no different from any other ordinary blade. Because it was too dangerous to be wielded carelessly, the goddess of creation had suggested sealing it, to prevent it from affecting the universe.

Lucas shifted his gazed towards the blade of his sword, the beautiful, exquisite crimson blade shone with a faint lustre.

Black lightning and chaotic energy were released from the blade occasionally as a chaotic aura engulfed his figure, and reality was faintly being distorted by its mere presence.

"No, it's too dangerous. I have to deal with this thing without relying on reality destroyers' ability." He concluded. Deep down, even he feared to use the power of reality destroyer.

'N-No, this is not enough, this thing destroyed my home. It should suffer. I should—Argh!'

However, as Lucas was preparing to launch another attack, he suddenly grimace as he felt an intense headache.

His thoughts jumbled together, hindering him from making a decisive decision. His instincts urged him to go on a violent rampage. He had an overwhelming desire to reduce everything to dust.

His already crimson eyes became an even darker shade, as his long waist-length flaming red hair swayed behind his back.

[Warning: Master's rationality is being devoured by the active skill, I suggest we end this battle quickly, before it's too late.]

[Phase two of the active skill (Chaos incarnate) has been triggered, your cognitive functions are becoming clouded by primal instincts. Strategic thinking limited.]

Evangeline warned. Her usual emotionless voice held undisguised concern.

'Right, berserker is strong, but the price for using it is extremely heavy.' Lucas sighed, finally understanding what was happening to him.

Berserker increases all his total stat points exponentially, but at a cost it consumed his rationality the longer its activation, as such, it wasn't a skill Lucas enjoyed using in a drawn-out battle. Entering the state of "chaos incarnate" was extremely dangerous, as he would lose his ability to think logically.

His instinct would be solely focused on eliminating everything around him!

'I have to finish this before it gets to that point.' He tightened his grip on his sword, with the resolve of ending the battle as quickly as possible.

"@##%." The apocalypse beast roared. The creature spoke in a language that Carson couldn't understand.

"... Indeed, you are right. But the one who will die in the end isn't me, but you!" Lucas responded indifferently. It seems he was able to understand it completely.

"Void slash!" Lucas roared, as the blade of his sword lit up with a dark destructive energy. He was already under the effects of his "Berserker" Skill, as such he was having difficulty controlling his temper.

[Notice: The active skill, (Level 10) is now active! 200 mana points will be deducted for each use.]

The apocalypse beast spear lit up in a crimson glow as it charged towards Lucas. In the vast expanse of space, two thin lines seem to split the universe in two halves. A line of darkness and a line of crimson.

BOOOOM!

Both met from the front sending fierce shockwave and trimmer throughout the entirety of space!

Rumble!

The entire region of space twisted and collapsed as their weapons clashed. Numerous clusters of stars countless light years away abruptly shattered and crumpled like paper.

The apocalypse beast's body was scorched by searing chaotic flames, as black lightning struck his body mercilessly. At the same time, Lucas raised his leg, striking its jaws with his knees.

Its large body was sent skidding backward uncontrollably by the force. His chaotic wings of annihilation spread outward as he launched himself towards the beast of the apocalypse, chaotic flames and black lightning engulfed his blade.

The beast of the apocalypse's swung its spears as it was sent flying, the space was totem apart as their weapons clashed, as sparks flew from the collision.

Reality destroyer seems illusory as the blade pierced through the beast of the apocalypse, Lucas smirked, as blood trickle down his lips, the spear was pierced through his abdomen.

"It seems my void slash was able to get through that bothersome exoskeleton of yours." Lucas said, the corner of his lips raised upward. He seems indifferent towards the wound he had just received.

The exoskeleton of the apocalypse beast had been the greatest inconvenience for him thus far. With its toughness and durability, he was having trouble piercing its armour.

"But now… There is a chance for me to attain victory." He said confidently. His blade shimmering from the star light.

[Description: active skill, (level 10) an active skill derived from your, skill, a powerful slash which cuts through dimensions and spatial barriers to reach its target.]

[In addition, as it's an attack which contains the true essence of space, it cannot be evaded, nor can it be stopped unless the target also possesses a skill with similar, or higher spatial capabilities.]

The beast of the apocalypse promptly withdrew its spear from his abdomen, and distance itself from him. His blood trickling down the length of his spear.

"You have injured me to such an extent, such crimes should not go unpunished!" The apocalypse beast roared, from its emerald horns, the apocalypse beast released a condensed destructive energy.

The force of the beam was several times greater than anything it had released until now. The air tremored as the space collapsed.

Lucas's face was illuminated by the flash of light, and his long waist length red hair swayed heavily in the absence of wind.

[Warning! Incoming attack: Beginning analysis to measure and assess the energy threat level… Analysis completed.]

[The probability of survival is below 50%, recommending the activation of the unique skill, and the activation of the manipulation type skill, (level 10) has activated respectively to consume and isolate the incoming attack! Shall I proceed? (Yes/No).]

Evangeline said urgently. Even the usually calm and composed Evangeline was flustered about the danger level.

"Do it!" Feeling the intense pressure of annihilation, Lucas could only grit his teeth as he left his defences to Evangeline. Immediately after, a powerful devouring force was released.

The beam of condensed destructive energy was absorbed by Evangeline and was released into an isolated subspace. The beam of destructive energy exploded; the subspace trembled as the compressed energy annihilated the dimension.

It all happened in a split second, and the apocalypse beast didn't even have time to comprehend how its attack was devoured.

Unfortunately, Lucas's crimson eyes were indifferent, he had no interest in its concerns or its confusion.

Regardless of the thoughts of his opponent, his body moved swiftly, with flowing movements.

His figure appeared next to the beast of the apocalypse, and at the same time, he swung his sword in a downward arc, severing the arms of the apocalypse beast.

Its loud howls of agony echoed throughout the depths of space. Blood floated in the absence of gravity.

"You don't need this, do you?" Lucas taunted, as he burnt the arm he had just severed in a torrent of chaotic flames.

Lucas briefly activated his primal skill, "Ragnarök of Ruin" ensuring the beast experience excruciating pain.

Primal skills were the peak of all unique skill, they were the absolute strongest among all offensive and defensive abilities within the universe.

They were the final evolutionary stage of the unique skills and were carefully crafted by the akashic record to fit the essence of its wielder, becoming unique to whoever obtains one.

However, the process of a unique skill evolving into a primal skill was an extremely difficult and rare occurrence only certain individuals had ever managed to achieve.

This was mainly because primal skills were so powerful, only beings with superior souls like the "Transcendence soul" could handle. It would at least have to be within the upper tier to assimilate with primal skills.

There are unique cases like the "Heroic souls" or the "Draconic souls" which are capable of easily handling them, but those are the few exceptions.

Ragnarök of ruins was a primal skill which was the very essence of chaos as in the nature of the god of chaos.

However, unlike the other transcendental, Lucas had poor control over his primal skill, chaos was an unpredictable and uncontrollable force of nature, even for him.

Blood poured from its missing arms, but its eyes were only filled with a heavy type of hatred that was almost palpable, as though it was cursing Lucas to death.

Lucas smiled, a look of satisfaction on his face. For some reason, he liked that expression. After losing his planet, he had sworn he would make these beasts suffer an agonizing death.

Perhaps his thoughts were being influence by his berserker skills. His instincts urging him to eliminate the enemy who stood before him.

"This is only the beginning… The pain you feel now isn't even a quarter of what I felt that day." Those words were uttered in a tone so cold; it could freeze the soul.

'Say, Evangeline, wouldn't it be more ideal to activate shadow realm? I'd have more advantage there, won't I?' Lucas asked inwardly. After all, he could use the shadows to his advantage, even his skills would be stronger.

[Indeed, with the activation of the master's active skill, we would have an environmental advantage. Unfortunately, the activation of such skills isn't optimal in the current situation.]

'Hm, why is that?' Lucas asked, confused.

[In case you have forgotten, the clash between you two have shattered most of the stars, and other light sources nearby, there isn't anything available to create a shadow in the surrounding.]

Evangeline explained. Her voice sounded slightly exasperated at his cluelessness. At her words, Lucas finally removed his gaze from the beast of the apocalypse and took careful glances in his surroundings.

Indeed, it was as she said.

The battle between two beings whose prowess had already reach the peak of the transcendental tier had destroyed all the nearby stars in the surroundings, there wasn't even any sightings of celestial bodies nearby. Everything had been reduced to void of nothingness.

"It seems using so many high-tier attacks one after another is causing its own problems to the universe. I guess we should end this quickly." He said, pointing the blade of his sword towards the apocalypse beast who had yet to move. Even now, his mind was slowly being devoured by his, "Berserker" skill.

"Unforgivable! So many of my kind were killed by you so-called transcendent existences!" The apocalypse beast said in a rough voice, ignoring the terrifying shockwave capable of easily reducing planets to dust.

"... Wasn't it you lot who attacked first, if it were not for that guy?" Lucas said indifferently. Even as they converse, he was putting a great deal of force into his god grade sword, reality destroyer.

"We are the invaders! That is our purpose, for existing! Without that we—!" The apocalypse beast exclaimed; its green eyes flashed with malicious intentions.

"Enough talk, after you invaded and destroyed my home world there is no longer anyway to reconcile. This war started with you, and it shall end with me." Lucas declared; his voice laced with undisguised killing intent.

Without uttering a single word, he raised his sword upward.

Reality destroyer, perhaps feeling the emotions of its wielder, began to release an even denser aura of destruction.

The apocalypse beast's expression grew sharper, perhaps sensing the danger the blade of his enemy imposed to its life it raised its vigilance, the apocalypse beast raised its spear in preparation to launch its attack, when suddenly—

A flash of light shone in the distant!

[Warning: Incoming attack!]

"Sword god domain—Argh!"

However, just as Lucas was about to activate his, 'sword god domain' and bring the blade of his sword downwards, Evangeline's panicked voice echoed in his head.

At the next moment, his senses were flooded with pain, no he felt excruciating pain.

Spurt!

Lucas involuntarily widened his eyes in disbelief as he groans and coughed out a mouthful of blood against his will, he felt the sensation of a dagger piercing his abdomen.

[Warning: Poisonous substance has been detected!]

Hearing that warning, Lucas winced as his face grimaced in pain. He felt so much pain that even his, 'pain resistance' type skill couldn't completely block the sensation.

When he glanced over his shoulder, his expression changed to that of shocked as he saw someone he hadn't expected.

However, as Carson was about to see who the newcomer was his vision was suddenly blinded.

...

"Carson, Carson!" Carson's eyelids twitch as he slowly opened his eyes, gazing at a mature woman with dark hair dressed in a white coat. The woman was of course, Amy.

"Is something wrong?" Carson asked, curiously.

"You are asking me if something is wrong. You are the one sleeping on the ground." She said, her expression showed a look of concern.

"Sleeping on the ground... Oh." It was at that point that Carson notice he was lying on the cold ground.

'Strange, how did it. Wait that spider!' He gasps as his memories finally clicked. He was bitten by a Poisonous spider and wondered between life and death before he...

'Th-That angelic voice... Was it just my imagination?' He wondered. 'Are you still there?' Carson called out.

[Affirmative: I am here to serve my Master at any time.]

The familiar monotonous voice resounded.

'... I see. So that wasn't a dream after all.' Carson sighed.

"Ahem, don't just go into a daze right after you woke up, are you really alright?" Amy asked, her brow furrowed slightly in doubt.

"Ah, yes I am... I must have fallen asleep and fell while moving around. I can be a really bad sleeper sometimes." Carson responded awkwardly.

Amy stared attentively at his face for a while it was only after she saw that he was really fine did she finally heaved a sigh of relief.

Carson sat on the bed and checked his phone. 'Oh, I was asleep for half an hour. It felt longer than that.' He thought.

'Now then can you explain who you are, and what that dream was? You saw it too, right?'

[Affirmative: I am connected to you as; I can perceive and discern everything you can see whether physically or spiritually and also... That wasn't a dream, but a sealed memory.]
