Sparks ignited around Paladin's right fist, flourishing out to solidify into a crystal chain set that spanned the entire length of his lower body and spiraled on the ground like a coiling snake to end in a point as sharp as a double edged dagger. The other end of the chain whip streaked along his arm to create a sturdy clasp around his elbow. Even in the light from the floating orbs above, it was obvious that a single slap of this weapon could severe a tree in half.
Paladin shrugged. "I must warn you lot. Things tend to get ugly when I wield any weapon of any sort. Good news is that none of you will die tonight. You're simply carrying out your duties as instructed, a quality I admire in young men. As for the bad news, you would be too sore to man your posts for a week or two." The smile on his face brightened, his gaze unflinching even as the guards spread out around him. "Now, who wants to go out first?"
