It was a beautiful morning just like all the others with the sun looking bigger its rays spread to all corners of the world.Cocks cawing to awaken any sleeping being to alert them that time to throw away the blankets and coming out of bed had come ,for only a lazy man slept while his mates were up and about. Enitan was the lady's name,this was their compound,she lived with her parents mom Carolina and Dada Nicolaus,she had six siblings three were younger than her and three were older than her it was a family of ten,three boys,four girls ,a mother ,father and their grandmother Paula .The father was a very strict man ,he was the head of the family ,his words and decisions were not to be debated or argued upon they were final .He was the sole decision maker , a man of his words ,he believed in educating boys and not girls that was the society they were in .In Dallas no girl went to school only boys ,girls going to school was like a tabooo, a girl was expected to grow up and become someone's wife and daughter-in-law nothing more than that.As early as the age of 14 some girls were being sold off for marriage to rich old men.In Dallas a woman was only to be seen and not heard ,a wife was supposed to be totally submissive to her husband and support all his decisions without questions.A woman's place was by her husband's side ,in the kitchen ,to take care of the husband give him children and do all house chores ,that was how society viewed women and any who threatened to be a rebel would be kicked out of the society by the society .The duty of a daughter was to obey all of her father's decisions and words ,bring bride price to the family .The father was the one who decided what happened to each of his children he made decisions for them especially the female ones.Chief Nicolaus was rich ,he was feared and respected by all residents of Dallas ,he followed the culture of his people loyally and many admired him.None of his children was a rebel unlike most of his fellow chiefs and kindreds .If a child proved to be a rebel against their fathers they would be denounced,kicked out and lost into the world and were never seen again in Dallas or heard from.Alll his children respected him and dreaded going against his will because they knew they would be punished ruthlessly,his wife respected,obeyed and submitted to him totally she practically worshipped him.
