Yunfeng let out a slow breath, his arms still wrapped protectively around Hana and Jai.
Their sobs had quieted to soft sniffles, their bodies warm against his.
He gently rubbed Hana's back, feeling her tremble slightly. Jai, still clutching his sleeve, wiped at his face furiously, as if embarrassed by his outburst.
"It's okay now," Yunfeng murmured. "I'm here."
Hana hiccupped, nodding against his shoulder, and Jai gave a weak nod, though his lips were still pressed into a thin line.
Just as the moment settled into a fragile calm, Shao walked in, his face shadowed with exhaustion.
But Yunfeng barely had time to register him before his eyes landed on the unfamiliar figure beside him.
A young man stood next to Shao, his clothes stained with dark smears of grease, his expression unreadable.
Shao didn't introduce him immediately. Instead, his gaze flickered toward Yunfeng.
"It's good to see you awake," he said, stepping closer. "How do you feel?"
