Chapter 5 - She-devil

More cars started appearing out of nowhere, encircling Jade, Sera, Aria and Jaxon. But before anyone could say another word, Jade's voice boomed, "Fine, we will surrender." At this her bodyguards became dumbfounded but when they looked into her eyes, they knew there was no room for argument, she was serious.

The leader of the group spat out, snickering,"Boss?! My foot. She is just another weakling." Jade and her team eventually surrendered. The men surrounding them tied their hands and blindfolded them.

After some time, they arrived at a warehouse, tied all four of them to chairs, and removed their blindfolds. There in front of them in full glory sat Cassandra.

"I knew it, I just knew that you were a disgrace to the Mafia. You are so weak that you surrendered yourself even when you had four top-notch assassins and fighters protecting you. Tsk. Tsk. What a disgrace you are in the name of the Collins family. Now, It's time for you to die. You shouldn't have been born in the first place. Before that just see what you put your bodyguards into, they are going to die because of you for no reason. Such talents would go in vain because of you. I'll give you a chance, beg in front of me and I will spare their life."

"Our boss will not beg in front of you. You are nothing compared to her. We would take pride in the fact that we died protecting our boss. You are the one who is going to suffer. You b*tch!!" says Sera.

"Watch your words, you idiot. You will pay for this. How about I begin this death game with you? Your tongue is too sharp. Shoot her."

A man stepped forward with a gun and aimed it at Sera's forehead. The sound of a gunshot echoed in the room and then fell the body of... The man.

Jade was holding the gun in her hand. After shooting him, she aimed the gun at her mother.

"You made a mistake. You underestimated me, you thought I was weak and so did your men. Everyone drop down your weapons or I will shoot your boss." ordered Jade.

A man on her right took out his gun and aimed at her, but before he could shoot, she shot him, her gaze still fixed on her mother. The man's body fell and there was a deadly silence in the warehouse – except for the sound of breathing.

The calm-looking woman transformed into a she-devil at that moment. She opened the ropes around the other three's hands. "Let me give you some advice, don't ever show your face to me or speak in matters relating to the Collins family."

With that, Jade started walking out of the place with her bodyguards in tow. They all felt a sense of pride in themselves after seeing their boss in action for the first time. But who were they kidding with, they underestimated her. They forgot that she has the blood of the Collins family running in her veins. She couldn't be weak. When she surrendered, she was feigning cowardice. In reality, she was no less than a she-devil, who would wreak havoc once provoked! A havoc nobody could ever imagine.

Her eyes reflected her true nature – a tigress lurking in the shadows, ready to lunge at her prey in one smooth swoop.

But before they could exit the warehouse, they heard Cassandra barking an order, "Close the main gate of the warehouse and exit through the back gate!!" Jade had a bad feeling about this and so did her guards. They quickened their pace to get out but an explosion took place. Jade was thrown against a van from the impact of the collision. Her forehead started bleeding and black spots started to cover her vision. She tried hard to keep her eyes open but her head throbbed with pain making it impossible for her to do anything. The last thing she saw through her blurred vision was her uncle rushing towards her before she succumbed to darkness.

Jade found herself standing in a white space, and suddenly, glass pieces swarmed towards her.

****FLASHBACK: -

My mom is shouting at me, again. All of a sudden, I felt a sting on my cheek. *Slap*.It hurts. Tears started pouring down my face but I still gathered the courage to ask, "What did I do?"

"You don't know what you did?!! You fought with your classmates and even pushed one of the girls down the stairs." spat my mother.

"No. I didn't push her, instead they were the ones to pick on me and when I wanted to leave, Lily tried to push me but I dodged it and she fell from the stairs. I didn't push her. Had I not dodged the attack, I would have been the one to get hurt." said I, sobbing.

"I do not want to hear any justification for what you did. Just go to your room and reflect upon your mistake and you are not getting dinner tonight as a punishment." said my mother angrily.

"But...I didn't..."

"Didn't you hear me? Leave!!" roared my mother.

'What did I ever do to deserve this?'

"And wait, don't tell your dad about this, he has a lot of things to handle and you wouldn't want to bother him with such petty things. Right??!" said my mom.

I left for my room without replying but deep inside I knew that I won't tell my dad about this because I don't want to bother him.

Then came another memory swarming to me.

The night before returning to the mansion. I was listening to music after taking a shower, standing in front of the mirror when I felt a presence behind me and as soon as I lifted my head to see…everything was a blur.

The next morning I was lying on my bed in the hostel. I got up and saw the bed sheet stained with blood. 'Damn these periods!' I went to the bathroom, and the sight in my mirror shocked me. I had a bit of blood smeared on my face and that's when I noticed my hands were also covered in blood. 'This is weird. How can I have period blood on my hands and face?'

Something about this just didn't sit well with me and the fact that I was last standing in front of the mirror but woke up on my bed. Weird. I couldn't remember anything no matter how hard I tried. Gathering all my thoughts I walked into the shower and allowed the water to wash away the blood and all the questions that came with it. I was going to meet my father today. So, I should only think about that.

I'll think about this matter later.

End of flashback. ****

Jade heard the beeping of machines around her. She tried to open her eyes and as soon as she did, bright light blinded her for a moment forcing them shut once again. After her eyes adjusted to the light she opened them again. Though her vision was a bit unsteady and blurry, she observed the surroundings – pale-colored walls with a thick scent of medicines and an IV-drip attached to her hand. She was in a hospital and as soon as the nurse saw her waking up, she rushed outside to send in Jade's uncle, Caleb, who rushed to her side.

He smiled at her, and she weakly smiled back. He then helped her sit on the bed and handed her a glass of water which she greedily gulped down her throat and only then did she feel a bit better. He patted her head lovingly,"How are you feeling now?" Jade answered with a slightly hoarse voice,"Much better."

She then remembered about her bodyguards who were there along with her,"How are Sera, Aria and Jaxon? Have they regained their consciousness?" She was worried about them.

Caleb's expression turned a bit hard. He gulped nervously. Something was wrong...
