When Charles woke up groggy again, he found himself still in that hospital room, unsure how much time had passed.
Looking down at his body, Charles saw that a large chunk was missing on his left side. His left arm, along with part of his left chest, had vanished. The wound was tightly wrapped in white gauze.
Hearing some noise, Lily, curled up under the oil lamp, opened her eyes. When she saw Charles awake, she leapt up excitedly. "Mr. Charles, you're awake. Are you feeling better?"
"How long have I been asleep?"
"It's been a week. We were so worried about you. Linda said if you didn't wake up this time, you might never wake up."
Hearing this, Charles leaned back against the soft pillow.
His head had just touched the pillow when he immediately sat up again, and eagerly said to Lily, "Lily, bring me that thing you brought back, quickly."
The pink mouse ears drooped down, "Mr. Charles, why don't you rest a bit more? You just woke up."
