The King of the Heike Clan raised his right hand, and a servant beside him presented a tray to Charles.
It was a pair of high-topped black boots with eerie inscriptions on them.
"They will let you step wherever you wish to step; I believe Captain Charles will have use for them."
"A relic? Are there any side effects?" Charles asked.
"This is not quite a relic. It is a kind of gift from the Gods."
Seeing Charles reach out and take them, the King's face broke into a satisfied smile.
"Mr. Charles has earned the respect of our Heike Clan. From now on, we are friends."
Charles nodded and turned to leave.
Just as he had left, the King stood up and calmly looked up to see a ferocious and terrifying monster hanging upside down from the ceiling; it was the former Divine Envoy.
"Snap!" Its entire body twisted in mid-air, crashing directly onto the long table and quickly emitted a ghoulish chattering sound.
