It doesn’t matter how old I get, there is something about the people I’ve surrounded myself with that continue to put me on edge. Am I really so bad that people are scared to be alone with me? Coming to Brina’s, I’d half expected a crazy lunatic waiting to cast a spell on me. Instead, I’m met with a kind woman who actually wants to know me.
“What?” I’m lost in thought and completely stunned by her question. Usually people yell at me or demand something from me, but she isn’t. Her soft hazel eyes stare at me with mock amusement as the corner of her lips turns up into a small smile.
“The melting the brain comment… you seemed really upset that Tatum was insinuating that you would hurt me.”
She moves towards the tea and snacks that my uncle brought in, preoccupying herself with pouring two cups before gesturing at me to take one. Faeryn said she was different, and I didn’t want to believe it for obvious reasons, but, I have to admit she was right.
Brina is not what I was expecting.
