I couldn't face him, but I had to.
It wasn't fear that kept me from wanting to deal with Jushion; it was the knowledge taht I'd destroy him. That would never satisfy my hatred of him, and it would ruin any chances of Nefra getting back her power. She deserved to be whole; my anger would take it from her. I could justify it all I wanted, but it would make me just as bad as the fucker we were fighting. Was I willing to do that?
No.
Yet, it didn't mean I didn't hate him more now than ever. Jushion was the monster of our nightmares. There was nothing new about that, but now I had to look at the situation with a level head. I had to look at his life and see the path he'd taken to lead us here. It wasn't something I wanted to do, but to keep him locked inside the wolf was what I needed. At least, that's what Shay said. I didn't want to leave him but was up against the cliff.
"Why do I need to know about him?" I asked, feeling petulant and defensive. "I know what I need to know."
