Odie and I stared at Zoe as she retold the story.
She hadn't finished the story, but she didn't have to. The rest fell into place and made complete sense. Zoe had somehow convinced Patrick to run. She'd taken the fall, and I could guess why. Patrick was a dragon and not a member of the pack. They probably thought it was safer to let Zoe handle this so Patrick wouldn't be told to stay away from her by her parents.
"Zoe? Where's Patrick?" I asked, needing to know where the teenager had gone.
"I don't know..." Even before she said it, I knew she was lying. I shouldn't have been surprised. Would I have done anything different for Ivan at her age?
"Zoe..." I let Kali come out a little, warning her that she wasn't just dealing with me as a friend but her Luna. "I know you think you're protecting him by pretending you don't know where he is, but you're not. You're not in trouble, and neither is he. However, it won't be better if you and he run from this."
