I was in shock.
Artemis had transformed, but I don't know how it happened. Whatever Nefera did to her, she wasn't the same creature she'd been as a Wendigo. It was already a surprise that the cat was willing to get between Ezekiel and Luke in the first place, but this was another level. She was fighting to protect Luke, not me, and ready to get hurt to do it. Honestly, if you'd asked me whether Jackie had it in her to do something like that, I would've told you no from what I experienced. Yet, here she was, clawing and biting someone who was still technically her family.
The incredible thing about all this? Artemis was giving Ezekiel a run for his money. Whenever he went for her, she moved out of his way, and because she was so much smaller than he was, it was nearly impossible for him to use his speed against her. Yet, her size allowed Artemis to get him in places we wouldn't usually attack. She went for his shins and ankles and even jumped on his chest, clawing at his face.
