"Nefera!" I move quickly before Nefera falls off the table. I catch her right before she hits the floor.
"I'm okay," She mutters, sounding slurred. "I'm fine."
She wasn't, and I wasn't about to let her go before I was sure she was really alright. Her emotions spiked for a few seconds, and when I turned, I saw that strange glazed look in her eyes. Then they'd rolled to the back of her head, and fear was the emotion that had me running to catch her. Not mine, hers. The diary was still in her hand, which must've triggered something.
Whatever she remembered, it impacted her enough to scare her. Nefera held onto me with her other hand like she feared I'd let her go. So, I cradled her in my arms and let her calm down. Her heart was racing so fast, and I wanted to ask what she'd seen, but I knew it was better to wait. Thankfully there was no blood or signs that she'd have a seizure this time, and I can only hope that means she's building a tolerance to the curse's effects.
