Everyone was right, I'm not ready to do this, but I don't have a choice.
If Ivan told me not to do it, I'm not sure I could've fought him. My head is so tired, and my heart feels heavy. Every time I closed my eyes in the truck, I almost found rest, but my father's voice kept popping into my head. Not him using my voice, but his, and I think it was Black coral fighting hard to regain the ground it'd lost. It worked because all the self-confidence I'd built up here was on shaky ground.
I don't think my father was as critical of me as Black coral was making him, but it still wasn't easy to hear. My only consolation was that I didn't have an intense attack through all of this. There were no memories, no seizures, nothing. Only found out my dad didn't believe in me, didn't trust my mate, and was willing to break us up to protect me. So how was I supposed to process that? It's one thing for a parent not to like your choice of partner, but Ivan was my soulmate.
