'I'm taking you back to Luke's.' Ivan told me when I came back with Katie. 'Are you okay?'
'I'm fine.' I see him approaching me, looking angry, but I feel the panic. After using the bathroom, I mind-linked Ivan and told him what had happened. 'It was weird but… strangely reassuring.'
'Nefra, a couple was waiting for you in the bathroom, and they just disappeared!' Ivan scowls. 'Weird isn't what I'm worried about. The fact they knew you at all is what concerns me.'
'I know, but Ivan, they weren't trying to hurt me. It makes no sense, but I swear everything's okay.' I insist as he pulls me into his arms and sighs.
"Nefra." He whispers into my ear. "If anything happened to you again…."
He was scared. He couldn't show it to anyone, but I felt it. He was outside the realm of what he could understand, and, as a result, he couldn't protect me. If I stop to think about it, can I blame him? After all, things hadn't been smooth sailing for me, had they?
