Paeris stood in disbelief of the fact that Arbane had fallen. Kai stared at his next opponent, but the ware on his body from battling only one of the Dutai siblings was enough to be noticed. From above in the section of the stands guarded tightly sat the daughter of the Guardian.
Dhelena watched in surprise that the man she was so interested in had defeated one of the Dutai. Noticing the wounds upon Kais' body sent chills down her own.
"What's wrong Dhelena? Don't you love it when two men fight it out in the arena?" Her friend stated from the side.
"No, I am repulsed by the site of this place every time I am here or far," Dhelena replied.
Footsteps could be heard approaching as the two talked.
"That's because you haven't seen a real man fighting yet," a voice spoke from the side.
"I'm not too sure about that, since watching this one fighting now I have become more excited than usual. I suppose he would be my depiction of a real man, Riff," Dhelena finished while smirking at Riff who stood next to her.
With noticeable disapproval, Riff turned and continued upon his way. Dhelena and her friend laughed as soon as he was beyond hearing distance, that is before they could hear what was happening within the battlegrounds of Wravalon.
"THIS BATTLE WILL END NOW!" Paeris shouted from below.
As Dhelena watched, the air seemed to begin to change around the Dutai that was left against Kai from Faerlu.
Kai stood with one arm in front of his face to try to block the invisible force that was beginning to surround his opponent.
'What the hell is this? Wait... This couldn't be...' Kai thought to himself as he inspected what was occurring.
"LOST GATEWAY VOLA, FLOOD!" Paeris roared.
Wravalon became quiet once more as everyone in the crowd gazed at what was happening. A small dot began to glow upon the palm of Paeris after she spoke. Then suddenly, a slightly visual aura of green could be seen surrounding her shooting upwards almost with a fury of intensity. It was almost as if flames had absorbed her.
Out of her hand it became, a wide bladed sword with a smaller hilt. She held it out, pointing it towards Kai. Its color more of a thicker green color so it could be seen more clearly.
"This is where your story ends, Kai. It takes a lot for me to ever Flood a Gateway, you haven't pushed me nearly enough to witness this. I simply am doing this so I can end you with the worse of punishment."
"Is that so? Well unfortunately I don't plan on losing here," Kai replied with a smirk.
Faster than thought possible, Paeris attacked. Her position went from standing to being directly in front of Kai with her blade ready to slash. His feet weren't quick enough as tried to lean back in shock of her upgraded speed. Luckily, he already was holding his sword in front of himself already and barely managed to block her strike. This was short lived as he felt his body leave his own feet from the impact before landing and rolling across the ground.
"What is going on? Her strength is greater than mine, on a whole different level out of nowhere..." Kai muttered as he was catching his breath and trying to stand.
With one knee down and one foot to the ground, it was already too late as Paeris appeared again with another slash of this mystical blade she held. Kai was not fast enough to block this one, blood flew as his skin opened across his shoulder. This attack spun him to his right and almost back to the ground before catching his fall with his right hand.
'I can't win this,' Kai thought.
"It's a shame to be so slow," Paeris taunted. "So weak, so vulnerable to the violence I'm going to be inflicting upon you."
Now her attacks became more frequent. While Kai would attempt to push his body up, she would slice his back. If he quickly tried to get up after that, he would be slice on one of his legs. This continued for moments longer, until finally he lied upon his stomach. Wravalon cheered in what they thought was the beginning of justice. Slowly, Paeris pushed the tip of her blade into the right arm of Kai.
"You will not be the end of what we have built for all this time, you must have read too many fairy tales about what life must've been like a long time ago. Regardless of that, this is what reality is, this is where everything ends for you. Such a wasted piece of trash you are you came from Catarei as a pathetic Factionless. Nonetheless, you are still one of the biggest failures to ever exist in the Expanse. Your nonsense ends now," Paeris spoke.
The crowd began to chant "Justice" as they hoped more and more that this was becoming the final moments of this traitor's life. Kai began to close his eyes as the blade stopped piercing his arm and lied across the back of his neck.
'Leon, Eileen, Miss Kira... I'm sorry. To everyone that followed me, I wish I could've done more. I should've been stronger; this shouldn't be this way...' Kai drowned himself in thoughts of sadness at this being the end of his journey.
"JUSTICE! JUSTICE!"
"WHAT A SMALL LITTLE LIFE YOU HELD! YOUR JOURNEY WAS ONLY SHORT LIVED!" Paeris yelled, her blade raised above her own head as she prepared for the final blow.
Kai slowly reopened his eyes now, staring across the crowd he noticed the only person not cheering at that moment. She stood in almost fear of what was happening. One last time, he closed his eyes.
'No no no no... Not now, this is only the beginning. This is not the end.' Kai thought.
"This is the beginning not the end..." Kai whispered as he pulled his arms in to where he could use the leverage of his elbows to push himself up.
"Huh?" Paeris noticed the noises leaving her opponent's mouth.
Kai was now to his elbows and throughout all that he had to endure, he slowly began to lift. After he would use his hands, extending his arms to where he could try to slide his body to where he would be sitting on his knees.
"GAHH!!" Kai roared from the pain as he forced his damaged arms to be of use.
The crowd began to get a little quieter as some were noticing what was happening.
"I said, this is the beginning. Not the end," Kai stated.
Paeris looked as if she was disturbed as he put one foot down and began to fully stand.
"Get back down to where you were you trash!" Paeris spoke as she turned her free hand into a fist and swung it at Kai.
Everyone truly became quiet now, as her fist stopped. The only impact that was made was to the palm of Kai's hand. He had caught her fist at her current strength. Shocked, Paeris held back a slight fear before punching with her other hand as she held a closed fist around the hilt of her weapon. Proving her strength, she landed once more into the mouth of Kai.
His body flew once more, this time for what seemed to be for good. Unconscious now, his body lied still.
"That's what I thought. I'll give you this though, you almost surprised me there," Paeris spoke as she began to kick her opponents limp body now. "In the end of the day, you can't do what you did to Arbane and get away with it. No one as weak as you should be able to live in the first place, let alone hurt my brother."
Kai's mind flooded with memories of the past, the short ones of Miss Kira's husband that passed away, the ones of Kai and Leon running from platform to platform within Catarei. Even the recent ones with all his friends and those he held closest within Faerlu.
"THIS IS THE BEGINNING. NOT THE END," Kai roared from beneath Paeris.
A blue aura began to appear around him; his eyes changed to no pupils and just a lighter blue color absorbing them. The unconscious Faerlu leader placed one fist down to the ground with so much force that it began to dent in the metal platform underneath him.
"No, there's no possible way?" Paeris said in fear and shock once again.
The Dutai held one foot to Kai's back as he pushed his body up. She tried to hold him down, but out of nowhere he spun his whole body and was gone. This threw Paeris off balance and confused as she tried to get her footing correct. But before it was possible, Kai had already swiped her back foot out from underneath her with his own leg. She fell sideways to the floor in an awkward sort of way, and once to the ground she could feel the pressure of Kai's aura and the sharpness of the giant blade he was now holding that had been formed out of the aura as she had done her own. Except the one he held was quite the difference in size, big enough that the weight alone of the blade could carve right through her.
Shaking in fear, she lied upon the ground. Standing with so much aura that it shook the platform of Wravalon, Kai was unconscious but victorious. As he swung his sword up with one hand and his forearm aligned with his hilt, everything disappeared. Kai's body fell flat to the floor once more; the blue aura was gone. Everything and everyone stood quiet at what they had witnessed.
