But even worse than that, women liked to be lied to. It wasn't because they were fools who couldn't distinguish truths from lies. No. They were intelligent enough to tell when a fool was lying to them, but like all humans, they loved to settle and calm their hearts with sweet lies. The lies of men tended to be more reassuring than their own.
Instinct and pragmatism almost led Skullius to tell Darwel that indeed, he was only doing this because he wanted to lure in Luserus and get his aid for the sake of his (Skullius') plans and Aigas.
