"My head, shit why is it bleeding?" Sirus sits up and notices that there is blood on a wooden railing to his right. "Damn, what happened?" Sirus checks his surroundings and finds that he is in a wagon full of hay that is stained with pitch black blood. The moment Sirus exits the wagon, his eyes widen in shock.
"What. Why is everything on f-fire!" Sirus tries to get up but the damage to his head makes it difficult, his vision hazy, he drops to his knees and slowly raises his head to see that the barricade the villages had built has burned to the ground and all the villages guarding the front have burned to a crisp as well. Sirus looks up as he holds his head, remembering what happened.
"Ow, I remember Chief throwing me off the mountain, that crazy guy. He wasn't even aiming right, shit, how long have I been passed out. I need to find my parents and make sure they're okay, but where would the evacuation area be? I think I saw. Fuck, I'm wasting time, I'll just go to the back of the forest." Sirus slapped his face and a moment later touched his head and saw that the bleeding had stopped.
Sirus shook his head and looked around. "An axe? That will come in handy. Now is the time to go. I hope the chief didn't do something stupid and get himself killed."
Sirus went over to the bodies of the burnt corpses and took an axe that was still intact. He ran towards the back of the village, towards the forest.
"Shit, I didn't even realise how big the village was until now." Sirus slowly stopped his movement and quickly hid behind one of the houses, looking over his shoulder.
"I was about to run straight to the humans shit, I thought they were survivors. What are they doing? Looks like they got hostages, not good." Sirus whispered.
Just barely peeking out of the corner, he narrowed his eyes to the knights holding the hostages, trying to see who they were. Sirus saw multiple villages tied up against the trees. He squinted his eyes trying to identify if he recognized any of them, but due to the intense fires and the smoke covering the air, he couldn't see well.
Sirus rested and tried to think of a plan to save the villages, but he knew this was no game. This was a life and death situation. He closed his eyes and tried to picture the area where the knights were standing and the hostages were when he first saw them. He could see a total of three knights and one person in a robe, and since it was a fantasy world, he knew that this person in the robe was most likely a human who could cast spells. He was curious if there was magic in this world, the school didn't say or mention anything about magic so he could not be sure, but that would not confuse him. While he was trying to come up with a plan, he lost his concentration when he heard several screams. Sirus did not rush out but he got up and crept around the house to get closer to the area, with each step the screams got louder and louder.
Sirus found it harder and harder to stay hidden and rush out and help, he desperately wanted to help the villagers but it would not do anyone any good. If he was to be caught, It would result in his death. Sirus crept lower as he approached the other houses and tried not to inhale the toxic fumes from the toxic air. He made it closer to the point he could almost see the faces of the villages. There were more Knights and Humans in robes as he squinted his eyes. From when he first saw the humans there were just 3 Knights and one robed human but as he got closer he was shocked to see how many there were.
'Why are there so fucking many of them! I can't even hit any of the knights since they are covered from head to toe in their armour. This will be harder than I thought.' Sirus thought to himself as he gripped the axe tightly. 'The only ones I will be able to kill if I get a chance are the robed humans, but even then, what if they could utilize magic? If they did then they could just form a barrier and then I would surely die. I don't want to leave them alone to get tortured and killed but I need to save myself if I have no other choice.' He peeked at the corner and heard the humans started talking but he couldn't understand a single word.
'What are they saying? It's too hard to understand from this distance, this is just getting harder and harder by the second, think, think, what can I do?' Sirus swept his eyes across to look at the hostages, and luckily he didn't see his parents, at least not what he could tell from the fog. It was still hard to see clearly in this damn fog. He couldn't even see the human faces as well.
Sirus continued to look as he saw one Human, In particular, torturing the villagers.
'Is this guy questioning them? I really want to chop up his body from limb to limb. The only advantage I got currently is my superior height as a demon and my special legs. I'm already taller than most of the humans here. Also the advantage of stealth and this axe. But It's suicide, I'm outnumbered and I don't know if the robed humans can cast magic. I'm wasting too much time talking to myself like an idiot, I need to find a way out of here but beyond this is the forest and I can't move closer than where I am since there are no houses to hide behind too, tsk, I might need to make a run for it and hope I don't get caught."
Sirus takes a deep breath and tries to think of some way to make it out of here alive. He hears footsteps coming from the humans, as he peeked over he saw two extra humans walking up to the others. These ones clearly are the leaders.
…
"Did you get any information out of them?"
"No Sir, it doesn't seem any of these demons speak our tongue sir."
"Tsk, alright than, If they are useless then kill them already, set them on fire or something I don't care, we need to find the target"
"Yes, Sir! Wizards prepare your fireball and cast it upon the demons, they are no longer of any use!" The Knight ordered as he pointed a finger at the demons tied up.
[Swoosh]
[Swoosh]
"AHHHH!"
"ROAR!"
Philip stared as the demon slowly turned to black corpses with a blank expression. He turned his head to his right side with a brow tilted up.
"I can sense a strong aura in that direction. You there!" Philip pointed a finger at the group of knights before pointing towards a house that was approximately 26 metres away.
"Go over and check that building and see if there are any demons hiding."
The knights looked over to the direction where Philip's finger was pointing before moving to investigate with their swords and shields raised in front of them.
"What is the matter, Philip?" Kane said as he moved closer to him and watched the knights closing onto the house.
Philip moved his head to the left side with a dumbfounded face.
"You idiot, you're a Holy Knight and a mage at that and you can't sense that powerful presence?" Philip looks Kane up and down, questioning himself if he really is a mage.
Kane opened his mouth slightly and looked over the house and felt a powerful Aura coming in that direction.
"I only noticed it now." He replied as he looked back at Philip.
'Yeah, right. If I see you betray the Holy Knights, I'll feed you to the demons myself.' Philip coldy promises
…
'Shit, did I get spotted? It's already night time but still, the flames would make me visible if I ran to the forest. I need to move now before I get spotted! Stay calm this is no time to panic. What can I do?'
[Thump]
[Thump]
'I have no choice, I need to make a run for it!' Sirus's heart was pounding harder and harder as the knights closed in. He ran out in the open and the knight froze still with shock as they couldn't see the black figure, the fog from the flames covered his body. All they saw was a tall black figure with scary legs holding what looks like an axe or some kind. The demon held the object above its head and threw the axe with a strong throw. The axe cleanly pierces the armour, throwing back the knight tumbling back.
[Swoosh]
[Ding!]
Unable to process what occurred. The black figure ran towards the forest with such speed that the moment he touched the grass, he vanished like a shadow.
"FOOLS! Chase after it! All of you chase after it now!"
The knights and the wizards all nod as they chase after the black figure.
"Wha… What was that black monster?" Asked Kane as he stuttered in fear.
"I don't know, It didn't look like a Demon with those legs but we can't be certain, tsk, by the time those idiots reach the forest, the monster would be long gone by now." Philp replied as he walked across a few metres and held out his left hand in front of him and pulled back the string as the arrow appeared. 'A freeze arrow would slow it down.' Philip thought to himself as he launched the arrow and gusts of wind pushed back debris from the shockwave.
…
"I made it out somehow. Huh? I hear water nearby, luckily demons have natural night vision, now I can see clearly now I'm not covered in fog." As Sirus ran as fast as he could with the help of his hind legs making his movements faster with every step he took. Sirus heard a whistle coming from behind him and he looked back whilst still running, he saw something bright heading straight towards him. Sirus knew that whatever came towards him with that speed, he knew if it hit him it would be all over. He tried to duck his head but a branch hit his head and at the same time he tripped forward and the unknown projectile barely grazed his head as the ice slowly formed around his head making him fall unconscious.
[Swoosh]
[Splash!]
Sirus fell into a river whilst still unconscious he flowed down the river, into the pitch-black night.
"What the hell is wrong with my aim today? This is the second time I missed today? Whatever I felt it graze, so it should at least hinder its movements. Philip walked back to continue watching the demon wail in pain as they burnt to ash, their ashes disappearing into the night sky.
