Mister Ratré, Clifford, and the pilot stared at the mostly naked figure floating past the canopy. They weren't sure whether Prince Khan could see them, but something told them he did. Also, that detail didn't matter since Prince Khan had proven to be faster than their ship.
The pilot lowered his gaze, pretending to focus on the somewhat stable control panel. He had no voice in the matter, and the blue glow past the canopy terrified him. That sturdy glass did nothing to shield his instincts from the primordial fear Prince Khan had triggered.
As for Clifford and Mister Ratré, their reactions were similar but also starkly different. The former had already gotten a taste of Prince Khan's power, so hopelessness filled his mind. Escaping with the ship had been his crew's only option, but that was gone now.
