Evidently, after that first guy attempted and failed to surprise attack him, no one else wanted to risk being half way buried. The guy who did get buried was still alive, but... getting one's ass whooped with the opponent using even a spark of aether was its own hell, plus they could still see how messed up his leg had gotten from Zhen Liu just standing there and taking it. They didn't want to risk getting bodied like that.
