In the meeting room of Tingming Pavilion, the annual summary meeting was being held.
The round conference room measured over 200 square meters, with walls of white marble that were clean and tidy, devoid of anything but the lightest patterns in decoration. Aside from that, twelve huge stone pillars that would take two people to encircle were spaced around the wall.
Looking up along the pillars, one could see that the conference room had no ceiling; the higher one looked, the darker it became, with the tops of the pillars disappearing into the darkness.
Within the spacious conference room lay two round tables, the outer one featuring twelve seats.
Each of these twelve seats faced one of the stone pillars and was occupied by a military officer sitting ramrod straight, their faces stern.
There were men and women among these officers, both old and young.
