Chapter 16 - 16. Departure

"Cirilla, it's time..."

The ashen-haired nodded, a big backpack on her back. She turned around to all the people behind her, looking at Eskel, Lambert, Vesemir, Geralt... Dante...

Her tears began to flow slowly as she saw the love of her life, "D-Dante," She stuttered, standing for a while.

The mentioned man smiled sadly and opened his arms, being tackled by Ciri.

"I-I don't want to go, I want to be with you..."

Dante hugged Ciri tightly, "I know... me too... but we need to do this and stay strong, okay?" he said, breaking the hug to look at Ciri's face, only for her to sob and nod hesitantly.

They talked about this every day for the one month they had and promised to stay positive and strong, but it was easier said than done. "I'll miss you..." Ciri just kept pouring her tears on his shirt, not that he minded.

"I'll miss you too, Ciri... here," Dante took an object outside his pocket and placing it in her hand, perfectly fitting. "This is my promise ring for you, that I won't find any other woman in my life, and I'll come back here even if my life depends on it."

Taken aback, Ciri widened her eyes at the object she saw... a ring! It was so beautiful- wait, "You said something about smithing something special back when Yennefer first arrived, i-is this the one you mentioned?"

"Mm! What do you think?" Dante nodded and asked, "Is it okay?"

"It's beautiful!" Ciri sucked her breath, and her sob disappeared. "Very beautiful!"

The raven-haired smiled, despite departing here, something good came out of it. "This will remind you of me, so wait for me, okay?"

He reminded her softly, making her nod... but pouted, "Humph! Then don't dawdle when you get there!"

Dante sighed but still retained his smile, "Yes ma'am! I will try my best to be as fast as possible!"

"Good!" Ciri finally smiled, her eyes and nose were so red but none of the people there mind it. They loved seeing the couple acting like this, especially Lambert. The guy was okay with Ciri being a witcher, but he didn't want her to experience the mutations and possibly lose her humanity.

The two lovers locked eyes with each other like they always did for the months they were together, they didn't get tired of looking at each other. Be it eyes or all of their partner's body, they weren't tired of staring at it. They closed their eyes and leaned into each other for a kiss.

What felt like seconds to the others felt like an eternity to them, and they still wanted more.

Ciri softly smiled as they departed their kiss, "Please be safe on your journey..."

"You too, you never know what dangers are lurking ahead," Dante nodded and kissed her again, but on the nose and forehead. Others might find it weird, but Ciri liked it, she felt it was cute.

"I love you..." Still smiling, Ciri stared at his eyes. "I love you so much..."

Dante caressed her face, "I love you too, too much for me to forget, and too much for me to not try my hardest and come back." he hugged her again.

For the last time, they kissed goodbye.

Ciri then slowly walked towards the portal Yennefer made, who crossed her arms patiently.

"Are you ready?" the woman asked while Ciri nodded in affirmation. "Then, let's go."

Ciri turned around to look at Dante for the last time and smiled, "See you soon, Dante..."

"Mm!" Dante too smiled and nodded, "See you soon, my Ciri..."

With that, Ciri finally entered the portal. Yennefer didn't follow immediately as she walked towards Geralt and cupped his chin, "I'm jealous, you never did that for me Geralt. I wonder why?"

The man in question could only scratch his head awkwardly, "I always want you around, you just can't stand being idle in a single place."

"True," Yennefer chuckled, "I won't make Ciri wait any longer, she has much to wait." She said, looking at Dante, who smiled in return.

"Do take care of yourself, I wouldn't want to see a broken Ciri, I adore that child too much." Yennefer placed her hand on Dante's shoulder.

"All of us adore her Yennefer, no matter what, she'll always be a princess here at Kaer Morhen." Vesemir butted in, smiling from the whole scene. He was sad that Ciri and Dante will no longer be here for a few years, but he understood. They had much to explore, especially with their potential.

All of them nodded as Yennefer then went again to Geralt, yanking his armor towards her, and kissed him. It lasted a few seconds before they broke it, "Ciri and I will be safe, you Geralt on the other hand, please be safe too. The djinn may have bound us together, but I can feel that I love you more than the djinn could make me do."

She didn't wait for a reply and walked towards the portal, leaving Geralt surprised, although his face wouldn't show it.

"Thank the gods!" Eskel exclaimed, "I was cringing the whole time!"

All of them looked towards him, making him look at Lambert in confusion, "H-Hey, aren't you cringing out too? Why're you looking at me like that?"

Lambert and Vesemir glared at him, making him zip his mouth.

The old man sighed and looked towards Dante, as everyone did at this point. "So, my boy... you're going too then?" he asked, getting a nod in confirmation.

"Yes, I can't wait for any longer, I need to go..." Dante held his hand and a stone appeared on top of it out of nowhere, a basic trick he learned from a charming angel.

Putting as much space/time energy the stone could ever contain, "Activate!" He yelled and sent a large pulse of energy immediately, opening a portal that was smaller than Yennifer's. The only difference the others noticed was that this portal didn't have any trace of magic in it, it was like it was nothing at all.

Dante smiled at his creation and turned towards everyone, "Old man, Geralt, Lambert, Eskel..." He said and bowed to all of them. "Thank you so much for welcoming me and treating me like your own, I appreciate all the time and effort you guys put in to take care of me when I was unconscious, and lastly, here."

Dante extended his hand and eight swords appeared, 4 steel and 4 silver. They all had the wolven logo on the pommel, and majestic touch to the guard. They were all identical, but the witchers could feel what swords belonged to them. The raven-haired smiled towards them, "A token of my gratitude, I added three simple runes to them. One sharpens it every day, the other maintains its form and the last amplifies all your signs by three-fold, so be careful in using it."

Dante also didn't wait for a reply and bid his farewell, "I'm gonna see you soon guys!" and with that, he left 'The Continent'.
