Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

*Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto. Ah, if only I had a magic fairy that could make dreams come true...*

*Fumiko's POV*

In general, fire can be extinguished by both water and earth, so would an earth style user have an advantage against a fire style user? Or does that not apply in this situation? I-

"FUMIKO-CHANNNNNNNN!"

Aaaand there goes all of my concentration.

I shot a harsh glare at the hyper blonde who had ruined my train of thought.

"Inku-chan, what do ya wanna do after school? Train? Go eat ramen? My treat, miso ramen. Dattebayo! Or maybe ya wanna..."

Blah blah blah.

Look, Naruto, honey, I love you and all, but sometimes, no, scratch that, most of the time, you're a bit much for me to handle. Or anybody to handle, really.

"...ramen yesterday, but I'm sure that-"

"NARUTO!" Iruka-sensei shouted out, red in the face.

The class erupted into giggles. Naruto immediately stopped talking, his attention now focused on our teacher at the front of the class.

Iruka-sensei sighed, then spoke up once more. "Now, class, as I was saying, tomorrow will be the graduation exams, and I expect every one of you to pass..."

I zoned out after that, staring out the window and at the clouds that lazily passed by. I must've zoned out for pretty long, because I felt Naruto bolt out of his chair and out the door, signalling that class was over.

I sighed, and observed everyone leave, one by one, until I was the only one left.

Funny how nobody really notices me, considering I was the friend of the one and only, loud, hyperactive, ball of sunshine, Naruto Uzumaki.

But I suppose it's better that way. Better for me, for them, for the village.

We don't want to repeat the mistakes of the past, now do we?

I sighed again as I stood up, lifting up my things and walking out of the classroom, walking in the direction of a certain ramen shop to meet a certain blonde.

*Timeskip Brought to you by a Chibi Itachi~*

I was sitting at the back of the class, waiting for my name to be called so I could take the graduation exams.

"Naruto Uzumaki!"

Naruto got out of his seat, looking nervous. I couldn't blame him, though. He was dead last, with the ability to create mediocre clones at best. And the stares of our classmates didn't exactly help ease his nerves. I would've said something encouraging, but that was like poking a hibernating grizzly bear, or in this case, the rabid wolf known as 'peer pressure'.

Instead, I lifted my head and stared up at where some ninja were watching us. Honestly, do they think I'm an idiot?

But then again, maybe they do.

"Fumiko!"

Well, it's my turn now.

As I walked to the door, I could feel the stares of both my classmates and the higher ranked ninja watching us pierce my back.

I hate this feeling.

But I love attention.

The good kind, anyway.

*Third POV, with the Hokage and Jonin*

The Hokage and soon-to-be Jonin senseis were observing the students with calculative expressions.

Kakashi sighed in defeat. "I have an interesting team, don't I?"

The Hokage let loose a little chuckle, before resuming to observe the soon-to-be Genin.

"Naruto Uzumaki!"

They watched in interest as the said boy started to swiftly walk to the door, clearly nervous, but whether about the exam itself or the stares that stuck to him like glue, they didn't know.

As of that moment, a piercing stare looked right where they were observing the students, shocking most of the ninja that was present.

"What? Can she see us?" Kurenai asked, her tone laced with disbelief.

The other Jonin also gave similar remarks, confused as to how a mere Genin, one that seemed no older than 12, could sense them when even some of Jonin rank couldn't sense them.

The Hokage, however, looked amused by the entire situation, and chuckled quietly. The Jonins stared at him curiously, wondering if his old age had finally caught up with him and had driven him insane.

"Fumiko!"

The voice snapped the ninjas' attention back to the brunette, who had started to walk toward the door for the exam.

The Hokage grinned, his eyes set on the brown-haired girl. "Fumiko... is an interesting person, for sure."

The Jonins looked at him questioningly, until one decided to speak up.

"What do you mean by that, Hokage-sama?" Kurenai spoke up.

"Well..."

*Fumiko's POV*

I stepped in the room, eyes scanning the two instructors sitting in a desk, sending a wary glance toward the one I wasn't familiar with.

In return, he gave a little wave.

So I decided I didn't trust him.

"Alright, Fumiko. All you need to do to pass is create three clones." Iruka-sensei said.

Three clones? Only?

This village is too soft right now.

I mean, seriously.

Maybe I'm overthinking this?

I nodded stiffly, and performed the handsigns quickly, creating three clones with little to no difficulty.

Too easy.

Iruka-sensei nodded and gestured me toward some Leaf headbands. "Take one. God job, you passed!"

Walking over to the selection, I eyed them and grabbed a black one, muttering a quiet 'thank you' and hastily walked away as Iruka wrote something on his blank clipboard.

I mean, I'm not in a hurry, but that other ninja sitting next to Iruka-sensei gave off an uncomfortable vibe.

Not that I'd tell anybody.

I'll keep my nose in my own business, like everyone should.

Like I should.

Like I should've.
