This level of battle doesn't require Li Yao to worry too much, as each species of military leaders knows their own tasks, and they're not facing any kind of transcendently powerful troops.
After all, this is just the periphery of the relics. The relics faction wouldn't send too powerful legions to exhaust themselves; the troops on the fringe are just cannon fodder, intended to consume the living forces of several camps. Thus, wiping out tens of thousands of kobolds hardly eliminated any leaders.
Moreover, what kobolds really excel at is mining, not fighting.
Among the combat troops, the kobold legion is at the bottom tier, but when it comes to mining, even dwarfs are no match for them. It wouldn't be excessive to say that they are the number one mining race of the ancient gods.
In a typical war scenario, Li Yao would choose to capture some kobolds and then breed them, saying that over time, a kobold tribe could be bred specifically to mine for Starfire.
