After a while, Isabella had finished talking and consoling Henrique's neighbor. She arrived at Henrique's apartment and found Nicholas seating on the armchair as he read a notebook with his legs crossed.
She looked at his tranquil pose and relaxed manner and then spoke.
"What happened? You checked the whole apartment already?" She spoke with a frown, Isabella had taken some time speaking with Alice, the neighbor, but it wasn't that much time.
Naturally, after finding the notebook Nicholas searched for anything else but found nothing useful. Then he spoke.
"Yes, I have. And I found this." Nicholas said raising the notebook in Isabella's direction, gesturing for her to take a look.
Isabella took the notebook and start skimming through it. She couldn't understand it, though.
"What is this?" She asked, confused again.
Nicholas got up and walked towards her. His body was really close to her, making Isabella's breathing become a bit heavier.
Nicholas started to point at some of the pages inside the notebook as he arrived close.
"Do you see it? This particular chart, with rows of this kind of abbreviation, and this row is the storage per location." Nicholas explained.
"And there is also this page, it has records of transactions. All this is primarily written in Spanish, the dialect is also rather different than Mexican and Spain's Spanish, probably Colombian. We know that Henrique was Colombian, it is safe to say that he speaks it. We just need another paper written by him, so we can compare these writings. I have yet to discover the meaning of these records, but this might be the reason why he was killed." Nicholas continued, he was looking at the slightly nervous Isabella.
She just nodded her head and kept looking at the notebook, trying not to mind how close Nicholas seemed to her body.
"Why do you think this caused his death?" Isabella asked to be sure.
"Because of the place in which I found it. It was secretly locked inside a compartment inside the wall." Nicholas brought her close to the corridor that goes to Henrique's room and there Isabella saw a hole inside some sort of wardrobe.
"Nice find. Have you found anything about his family, friends?" Isabella spoke as she recovered from her previous state.
"I did not look for it." His voice was that of disinterest, which passed unnoticed by Isabella.
"I'm going to take a look, just wait a second." Isabella then proceeded to walk around the apartment, trying to stay focused.
Nicholas just shrugged and kept looking at the notebook for a while.
In the other room, Isabella was having a hard time controlling her breathing. She just realized something crazy.
'Nicholas is too damn hot.' She thought.
Her interactions with him until today weren't many. She also didn't feel anything before they arrived in the apartment. But when they almost bumped into each other when they tried to get into Henrique's apartment, at that time Isabella felt like electricity ran through her body. She remembers looking up at him and almost seeing something like a red aura around him.
'That shit was magical.' Isabella thought, oblivious to the fact that it truly was magic.
Nicholas, most times, keeps his aura activated. And when common people look at him, they tend to feel more attraction towards him. Thus making it hard for someone like Isabella to control herself around him, it appears like a shining dot in your vision, you almost can't look away.
That's what happened to one of the girls that he met while hunting Claude at Jeremy's kidnapping apartment. She looked at him with lust and like he was the most beautiful thing she had seen, all that while disregarding herself being tied to the wall in the kidnaper's base.
Nicholas suspects this is some kind of Vampire nature that he possesses, he never tried really investigate it. So when he uses it, he will be in amusement for a while.
After Isabella recovered herself and returned to the living room, she tried not to look at Nicholas, afraid the same situation would happen again.
Nicholas then suggested they returned to the office and start investigating the notebook in his hands.
Isabella, on the other end, was a bit worried that Henrique won't have anyone to receive his body.
"What now? I couldn't find any type of information about his family, and Alice, the neighbor said she couldn't be responsible. Though she said Henrique did have a family." Isabella pondered inside the car as she drove to their office.
"Do not mind it. Jeremy will most certainly have something to work with if this worries you so much." Nicholas spoke nonchalantly, he was still looking at the notebook.
Isabella thought she wasn't that worried, she was just pondering. But outside she really looked like she was worried.
After they arrived, Nicholas brought the notebook to one of the rooms and put it over a table. Jessica had just arrived as she saw Nicholas entering the room.
"What is this? Did you guys find anything useful?" Jessica asked, currently eating a donut.
Isabella was about to answer, but Nicholas cut her off saying.
"Probably records of drug activities in Colombia." Nicholas said pointing at the notebook above the table.
It was a leather, about 200-300 pages notebook with nothing written on its cover, overall it looked pretty simple.
After opening and turning a few pages, Jessica had the same reaction as Isabella. She couldn't understand anything.
Isabella, on the other hand, was quite surprised. Nicholas had told her that he didn't know what it was.
"You said you didn't know what it was." She looked at Nicholas solemnly, wondering how he found that.
"Well, I said I had yet to discover its meaning. And I have. The abbreviations that I mentioned match perfectly with some cities in Colombia, I looked at the internet while you drove." Nicholas explained as he reached for the notebook in Jessica's hands and put his smartphone above one side of the book.
Isabella looked at the phone being side by side with the abbreviations, and then a list with names of cities. There were words like G-ta, P-Bueno, and others, these two were Guavetá and Paratebueno. When looking at the map on Nicholas' phone, these were cities close to Bogotá, specifically around the Chingaza National Natural Park.
There were also other words that weren't clear.
"What are this T1, T2, and others?" Isabella asked.
Nicholas looked at her for a few moments and said.
"I believe these are locations for drug activities. And that due to the fact that Colombia, in the past few years, has been in war. Due to the demise of the biggest illegal organization in Colombia's recent history, the High City cartel, now the balance is broken. That information has spread all around the world. But there is also the question of how would Henrique be connected to this. Why would be drugs, and why this notebook isn't just some random notations?" Nicholas then went to the board that Detective Hughes left before retiring from the case.
In this whiteboard were some of Henrique's files, so Nicholas passed the opened file on a certain page to Isabella. There, was written the information about the day that Henrique departed from Colombia.
Which was three days after the High City cartel lost the war.
