Chapter 18—Where is our son?
Medical Hospital, Year 20XX
While the couple was enjoying the quietness in the room, Vera suddenly remembered something important.
"Where is our son? How is he? What is his name? If I am not mistaken, he should be around six years old by now." Vera frantically asked. Her eyes watered, thinking about her son. It has always been a tremendous guilt for her to vanish before even seeing him.
When she was captured, Psycho hired sixty trained soldiers to fully contain her. Though their numbers were more than enough to easily stop her, they still lose more than half of their people. She remembered that she had no thoughts during that time but to return to the hospital for her son. They took her just after her delivery when she was still full of drugs. She didn't even have the chance to glimpse her son's face. It was hard for her to remain conscious; however, she was aware that something was not right.
She tried to fight back even though her stitches were opening up and her mind was starting to shut down. She did her best; however, they came at her most vulnerable time, and she couldn't do anything but be taken, leaving her newborn son. She could only hope that Long Wei would be notified. She trusts that he will take care of their son and provide him with everything he needs.
Back to the present, Long Wei was looking at Vera lovingly and replied, "He is doing fine. I gave him the name Xu Li. He is a terrific and smart kid. You will definitely like him."
"Of course I will like him; he is my only son! My flesh and bone can only produce the best, so I never doubt his abilities." Vera smiled. She can't believe she just said that. Her father will be so proud of hearing her. She sounds just like him!
Long We, realizing what she is thinking, smiled as well. Sometimes, although the woman will never accept it, she speaks like her father. He can't help but chuckle.
Vera gazes at Long Wei on her side, chuckling; she can't help but study the man in front of her. It has been a long time since they have seen each other, but he still looks the same. A little older, but her hair, eyes, nose, and lips look the same. The man is very handsome in Country A's standard. She remembers being jealous plenty of times because of ladyflies lurking around her man at all angles.
"Are you married?" She suddenly blurted.
Long Wei narrowed his eyes. "Do you think I am married?"
"Well..." Vera recognizes the man's expression, averts her eyes, and finds a word to deflate the man's anger.
"No need to get angry; I was away for quite a long time, so of course I am curious. I trust you, but I don't trust others. Who knows, maybe you were already caught in some woman's scheme and live a happy family life." She stated. In reality, although she was confident that he would not marry someone else, Vera's heart still needs some reassurance that he is her man still.
"No, I am not, and I will never be unless it's you. So better get yourself better so we can have the happy family you are saying." Long Wei assured her in a serious tone.
Relieved, she agreed to do her best to recover fast. She needs to fatten up and build her muscles again. Her skills are also less than before, so she needs to practice twice as hard to regain her former self. At the moment, her body appearance is not her priority since Long Wei seems to not care about her scars. She will think about it later.
"Also, I want to see our son. I haven't seen him yet."
"I instructed everyone to keep your return hidden so he is not aware you are in the estate. I thought that you would not like him to see you like this."
Vera considered his words and agreed to his reasoning. It's true, and she wouldn't like her son to see her in her weakest moment. She wants to give him a good impression, so she needs to recover fast to see him.
With her son in mind, Vera mentally organizes her next regimen.
