Chapter 161 - Last Chance: Part 1 - Up the Stakes

Sometime later...

Following the Vice President's announcement, it was finally time for the Project X briefing about a training camp that would start in a week and last three months. During this the world's gaze will be concentrated on the younger generation's most promising and strongest individuals.

Who all hail from diverse backgrounds, some from common origins while others are from royalty. But regardless of their backgrounds or experiences, each holds the potential to transform Earth and lead humanity to greater heights. Nevertheless, in the end, only one person can acquire the title of the strongest youngster within Multiverse Z.

Additionally, with that title earn the privilege to become the commander of a soon-to-breakout war, which would span the past, present, and future.

"Silence!" The Vice President, Calvin, shouted as he appeared on the podium like a phantom and silenced the rowdy crowd of students.

"Thank you! So, with the recent battles that commenced during the first period of all classes, we have made a preliminary list of the students who will attend Project X as representatives of FB. And with that could, Ms. Serene, please display the list of students who have been chosen as representatives for our school."

"It's my pleasure," Ms. Serene, the head of the teaching department, smiled as she clicked the tablet in her hands, a couple of times causing four holographic banners to appear before everyone. In distinct colors to represent class and grade with red (Freshmen), blue (Sophomore), silver (Junior), and golden (Senior):

[First-year students nominated: Rin Kurama, Wendell Stone, Ghost, Ethan Davis, and Maze Kurama]

[Second-year students nominated: Christina Von Hall, Sofia Frost, Jimmy Joe, Alvin Falcon, and Isabella Sky]

[Third-year students nominated: Felicia Humming, Matthew Manhattan, Samuel Core, Jason Drummond, and Jinx]

[Fourth-year students nominated: Smith Winchester, David Go, Matt Joe, Hannah Cock, and Ana B. South]

Simultaneously, once the list of candidates chosen to represent Forbidden Blood was announced, it seemed as if time froze as everyone gasped in shock and disbelief. Before, the entire auditorium was momentarily engulfed in silence as everyone processed what occurred.

However, before anyone could even say a word, the Vice President said something that elicited an even bigger response, which finally broke the silence within the auditorium. As all hell broke loose with even the teachers gazing at him with suspicion.

While others raised their eyebrows in intrigue and turned to their colleagues to discuss the implications of his actions.

"Now, now while these chosen individuals have been hand-selected to represent our school in the training camp known as Project X. Sadly, their position isn't yet solidified nor permanent, so anyone who thinks they are more worthy of the position... do please get ready for you have a chance to prove yourself and steal their thunder and earn honor for Forbidden Blood all at the same time." The Vice President said with a grin, savoring the tension rising in the air and the smell of gunpowder as the students prepared for war.

"Oh, and before I forget, to those who participate in the reselection, there are still eight slots open with two reserved for every grade in case anyone stands out during this period. And with that, this briefing is adjourned so good luck, and I hope to see you all this Friday. For a day filled with blood, gore, disappointment, and happiness."

He said before disappearing in a puff of smoke whilst everyone took in his words and got ready for the battles to commence in three days.

'Just what are trying to accomplish by doing this, President Olivia?' One of the teachers wondered as they sat quietly, smiling as they took in everything.

Before suddenly locking eyes with the successor of David's legacy and sending him a wink, but it would seem their efforts were ignored as Rin continued talking with his friend.

"Hmm, interesting... it seems, his reputation proceeds him, even though his love life could use some spice. But who knows for love is a trivial thing compared to absolute power in the grand scheme of things. Even though its power is quite fascinating and can lead to some interesting power-ups," The department head of magic and teacher of arcane spells, Abigail Moon, muttered before taking out her notepad and writing something down.

"Is something the matter, Ms. Abigail?" A fellow magic enthusiast within the magic department asked as she tried to see what might have caught the eccentric and mysterious Arcane Abigail's attention.

"Nothing of your business, my dear friend, Sky," Abigail said as she stood up and snapped her fingers, conjuring a portal beneath her, that swallowed her up and disappeared moments later as she was teleported to her office.

'Sigh, I guess some things just won't change; just how long do I have to keep this act up until I take a peek at her spellbook.' Sky complained while continuing to search for who could have gained the attention of that witch.

Yet, no matter how she looked she could not seem to find anyone worthy of Ms. Abigail's attention.

Later that day...

Following the end of the briefing and classes being canceled for the rest of the week, in preparation for the reselection of representatives for Project X. The campus entered a state of quietness as compared to its usually noisy and rambunctious atmosphere.

However, amidst this silence danger lurked at every corner and deadly plans were brewing in the darkness. Plans that could dispute the already weakened infrastructure of FB, if they come to fruition but with how things are that will not be happening anytime soon.

Nevertheless, it is always better to be safe than sorry, but then again that is a problem for the future and not the present as can be seen by the various professors of Forbidden Blood.

Who took this time off to relax at Winter Beach as they ate kebabs and drank sake while listening to indie music and discussing recent global events.

"So, who do you guys think will become the last man standing at Project X?" One of the professors of the martial arts department asked.
