One was the physical realm, and the other was the mental realm, or in actuality, the core identity of a soul. However, the latter would be the three spiritual souls when spoken in terms of origin. Nonetheless, what the Mind Sea Extraction Mirage Technique does is sweep through the seven physical souls and rob the victim of their memories.
It doesn't essentially rob as it was just copying the memories and pasting them elsewhere, retrieving them back to the user of the technique. However, the way it did so was forceful and invasive, causing the seven physical souls to be damaged and, in return, causing the victim to turn mentally disabled.
