"What do you want, Brienne?" the king asked her with eyes that says 'don't disappoint me.'
After so many years, after being treated like a nobody and leaving the very kingdom where she belongs, only to be trained by her uncle who accepted her and taught her everything she needed to learn, Brienne could only ask for one thing;
"I want to join the royal soldiers. I want to fight the enemies and protect you, father."
"How can a princess become a royal soldier? You don't even fit in. You could have asked for gold, a town, maids, even horses. You could become wealthy."
Brienne shook her head in disagreement and said, "I have always been comfortable with nothing. The only thing I know to do is fight. I'm going to be a soldier, a warrior. And before your very own people, you will declare my name and restore my mother's honor."

With blood in her mouth while laying faintly at the feet of her father, Brienne looked up and whispered, "Forgive me, father."
