Jace Hakeem Lyon Is an enigma despite being touted as a five-star high school recruit his character leaves much to be desired. His ego is backed by his relentless desire to prove himself by collecting ground levels for little room to care about others' thoughts. He may seem laid back or in control but that's far from it as a monster called anger that feeds off his loneliness, greed and pain to push him forward. Born and bred in east La Crenshaw strong isn't something he shouted for the sake of it, it's something he had to live up sparing no time to live up to others' expectations for what black excellence is supposed to be. On the field, he is known by many names: The Light-Skinned General, Crenshaw's Tiger, and many more. However, the only one he truly cares about is his moniker, Mr Bling, as he thrives on adding to his trophy cabinet. Like most people who grow up in the trenches that is Crenshaw, he spent his early years dodging gangs and drugs. Football was his escape from his chaotic life as he only ever truly felt complete when he had a ball in his hands dodging guys built like trucks trying to take him out. However, following a strategy that took his parents in the middle of his freshman year and let his older sister scarred both physically and mentally, Football became his only lifeline to save both him and his two sisters from the hood as life dealt them a bad hand.

Scions of the Cruel King

In Scions of the Cruel King, the Targaryen family drama is in full swing. After Aegon’s death, Aenys took the throne, but things quickly went south. Aenys wasn’t exactly a strong leader, and it didn’t take long before the Faith rose up against him. That’s when Maegor stepped in—furious and out for blood after the murder of Eleana. He crushed the rebellion with an iron fist. When Aenys died under some pretty shady circumstances, Maegor took over as king. But even though he was ruthless, the Faith remained a thorn in his side right up until his own brutal end in 48 A.L. Now, the story kicks off in 56 A.L., and the Targaryens are still in hot water. Jaehaerys, Aenys’s son, is holding down the fort as regent for his young cousin Vaegyl, Maegor’s son. The realm is a mess, full of uprisings and political scheming. Jaehaerys and his allies, like Gerold Westerling, are doing their best to keep the peace, but they don’t realize that Westerling and Ser Tybolt Lannister have their own plans. They’re secretly plotting to put Westerling’s grandson, Aegon, on the throne. As Vaegyl gets closer to coming of age, things start heating up. Old loyalties are questioned, hidden secrets come to light, and the shadow of Maegor’s brutal reign still hangs over everything. The fight for the Iron Throne is just beginning, and it’s going to get messy. If you’re into stories packed with power struggles, betrayals, and the Targaryens fighting for control of the Seven Kingdoms, Scions of the Cruel King is right up your alley.
